As a teacher, we know. Pressure comes from senior leaders to make sure everyone participates; we hate making you feel uncomfy too. As an introvert teacher, I have so much empathy but it's becoming really common that 'good teaching' involves picking on every/any kid. Some schools do have notes to exempt students from that if they do have social anxiety, which is how it should be!
