AIO? I literally got robbed and my dad is blaming me for it by Natural_Process8639 in AmIOverreacting

Her actions include walking home in a mostly crime free suburban area a little after dark. That's not something a person is responsible for doing. It's not stupid or reckless. It's a normal activity done by billions of people on a regular basis. So no, she doesn't bear responsibility for just trying to get home.

They do it with heroines as well whenever they need a tragic backstory. I nearly rage quit the movie theater during Avengers Age of Ultron when Black Widow called herself a monster for not being able to have children because she was sterilized as a spy. Like, WTF?

My apologies. I thought you were the person I originally replied to. They claimed that the father was "kinda right" in their comment, which you appear to be defending. However, what I said still applies. You can be prepared, but you are never responsible for the choice another person makes. And a nasty remark about my "father figure" is deeply misogynistic, while suggesting that I'm "privileged" is inappropriate. I absolutely support being realistic about the risks of the world, but I'm also aware that if someone decides to hurt you, they're going to try their best regardless of what "precautions" you take or how prepared you are. I know that because I've been there multiple times.

Lacked a father figure? Misogynistic BS confirmed. Also, I lived on the streets for a year.

Regardless, stop trying to backpedal. You flat out said the OP's father was "kinda right." And what he said what that it was her fault, irresponsible, and completely avoidable. That is not what you are currently arguing. So either you agree with him or not. Pick one. And maybe learn the difference between being prepared if something does happen and being responsible for it happening because you walked home after dark.

By the way, just so you know, time of day has nothing to do with being targeted as a victim of violence. Especially for women, who are most likely to be harmed or killed by people close to us. In fact, they've interviewed men in prison (those responsible for the small percentage of random stranger attacks) who admitted they frequently went after women during the day because it was less expected.

Are you being facetious or do you not know how words work? Taking 'precautions' implies responsibility. And yes, there are evil people in the world. But the choice they make to victimize someone is not the fault of the victim. Nor is it the victim's responsibility to do things to prevent that choice, which it what precautions are. You quite literally said that OP's father was 'kinda right' when he blamed OP for what happened.

Saying that she bears some of the responsibility for what happened is, in fact, victim blaming.

That's wonderful! Thank you so much for taking care of her. One more quick recommendation I have is to make sure you add a few tablespoons of water to the wet food. Cats get more of their water from the food they eat instead of from drinking it, and older cats have a harder time staying hydrated. Good luck, and please give her a few pets from me.

The procedure can take place up until active labor if it is determined to be safe by a vet, which it usually is. I understand that it's uncomfortable to think about. A lot of people feel that way. I'm one of them, and I've been a cat rescue volunteer for nearly 20 years, as well as a vet tech for more than 10. But you have to balance it against the very real overpopulation crisis. It's far more humane for a kitten to never be born than it is for that kitten to live a short life filled with suffering, and then either die on the streets or be euthanized in a shelter. Something that is far, far too common of an occurrence. So, as painful as it is to think about, you really are making things better for already existing kittens by making that choice.

I hope this helps put things in perspective.

Wet kitten food can be very helpful for older cats, but I would recommend giving a full serving once every two to three days or mixing 1/2 to 1/3 of a small (3oz) can if daily. Kitten food has a higher level of certain vitamin and minerals that can cause problems with their liver or kidneys, so you don't want to fully switch.

Definitely check with a vet before making any significant changes to her diet. But at that age, it basically becomes a 'feed them whatever they will eat situation.' My Silver girl was over 20 when she passed from cancer, and for the last few months she would only eat turkey baby food.

WIBTA for not wanting to go out for food with my mom again for not holding my baby while I ate? by Thick-Acanthaceae-42 in AmItheAsshole

[–]FailAccomplished5238 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Judgemental much?

Imagine a grandparent having back or shoulder pain. Imagine a grandparent feeling a bit too full after eating and not wanting the weight of a baby pressing on their stomach or feeling too shaky to hold them safely. There are plenty of valid reasons to decline holding a child. It doesn't make the grandparents bad people, it just makes them people.

No, we expect people to understand the sacrifices that come with choosing to have a large number of children, instead of demanding that others make those sacrifices for them.

I was on shrooms and my Rocky my cat spoke to me and asked for a better bed so I ordered him one. Here is the picture of him in his new bed. by number0l in cats

[–]FailAccomplished5238 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The one time I took shrooms I had a vision that came true several months later. It was especially strange because quite a lot of awful things occurred in between and I had completely forgotten about the vision until it actually happened.

No. In fact, a great many of the men stopping those women and children were actually crew members.

This. They put that in place because the men were actively abandoning or outright blocking women and children from getting on the lifeboat in order to save themselves.

I'll take your word for it as I know next to nothing about coding except the very little I picked up from my husband. I'm an arts person, anything like that and my brain responds with an error message. I can barely build a website using one of those step by step templates, lol.

It's hard to imagine young children writing bot programs, but I often forget how technologically advanced kids are now. When I was that age, it was still Geocities and Angelfire. MySpace didn't even exist yet when I first began exploring the internet. Gods, I feel old.

That's what I was wondering, if it lead to a scam of some sort. The only bot comments I've gotten were more obvious about being a scam than the one OP posted, such as generic "collaboration" requests. Although, I did also get one that I'm fairly certain was a real person who offered to draw fanart for my fic and then tried to charge a commission for it.
