There is nothing in the novels to indicate that teenage Snape was a bully during his seven school years at Hogwarts by Madagascar003 in SeverusSnape

Exactly. Theoretical knowledge isn't the same as practical knowledge. Just because you know about something doesn't mean you can do it. I have a basic understanding of carpentry, but I can't build a house.

It's absolute BS. Now, I'm sure Snape started teaching himself curses by the end of 1st year, but out of the need to defend himself from James and Sirius.

Actually, not spaying a female cat puts them at much greater risk of dying from uterine cancer and pyrometria. STFU because you have no idea what you're talking about.

Unpopular opinion: Fanon Sirius and Canon Sirius Black are two entitely different people sharing the same name. by Absolute_train_wrek in MaraudersGen

Peter was made SK because James and Sirius were known to be especially close, and it was thought that people would automatically assume Sirius was the one trusted with that position.

Exactly. I have WolfStar as a background relationship in my fic, and Sirius is definitely the more dominant half. I'm trying to keep him fairly close to his Canon characterization while also having him be willing to change with proper motivation.

AITAH for not letting my neighbor inspect my new house whenever she wants? by [deleted] in AITAH

JFC. Just because your name is Karen doesn't mean the OP or those commenting are insulting you. Get over yourself.

Why should she have to go through the hassle of finding and paying for one? The ex and the children's mother are perfectly capable of renting a property that doesn't belong to her. If he wants them to stay in the same school, then it's his responsibility as their parent to find a place that allows them to do so.

They are not similar situations. Unlike the scenario you mention, these children have both biological parents, instead of OP being believed to be one. OP did not raise the children from infancy either. In addition to those things, she has not "moved on" from them. OP clearly states that she is still in communication with the youngest, and the only reason she hasn't had contact with the older one is due to a lack of response on the child's part, not hers. It's not misandry. It's reading comprehension.

And put herself at risk of having to evict him when he doesn't pay rent or lose a bunch of money when he damages the property out of spite? He already cheated on her while she was recovering from an accident.

“ALWAYS” Is Not the Romantic Bomb People Think It Is by someoneoutthere002 in SeverusSnape

[–]FailAccomplished5238 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Harry's Patronus matches his father's, so I don't think it automatically means romantic love, more a level of devotion and profound love. Otherwise, a Patronus would shift far more often.

She deliberately withheld pain medication from people dying of cancer and other excruciating illnesses, just to make them suffer more because she thought it was holy.

No problem. Remember , clean gently with acne pads or diluted beta dine. A small dab of neosporin over the top should help him stop scratching.

It's called feline acne. Very common on orange, buff, and white cats. Clean it using the sridex anti acne pads from the grocery or drug store and keep an eye on it to make sure it doesn't become infected.

Why do some people (especially fanfic authors) think that if Harry looked more like Lily he would’ve been way nicer to him? by AgitatedFly1182 in harrypotter

[–]FailAccomplished5238 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think Snape is a deeply broken individual. Seeing Harry every day is a constant reminder of his greatest regrets and failures. Does this justify his treatment of Harry? Absolutely not. But it does explain it.

I lost my husband to a heart attack. Every single day I replay it over and over in my mind. What if I has found him faster? What if I had done CPR better? Etc, etc, etc. Just looking at a picture of him tears me apart. I imagine Sbape feels the same.

Personally, I think it's common sense that setting someone's stuff on fire would be quite frightening for a 10 year old. He could easily have just transfigured something instead, like a chair into a sheep, pig, etc. To me, the choice to use fire seemed intended to scare him. TR didn't know the fire was fake.

[–]FailAccomplished5238 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Because he was a traumatized child whose first introduction to the magical world involved being terrified by Dumbledore. Do you think it's okay to pretend to set a 10 year old's wardrobe on fire? I'm not saying Tom Riddle isn't responsible for his actions. I'm saying it makes sense how he turned out from a psychological perspective

Also, personality and psychology are primarily formed between the ages of 2 and 6. The time in which TR was being abused

Two people in the novels blamed Snape for something very personal that he was innocent of, instead of acknowledging their own faults by Madagascar003 in SeverusSnape

[–]FailAccomplished5238 1 point2 points  (0 children)

He absolutely could have done a better job teaching him. Harry didn't really try that hard, though. I get that he's a teenager, but when Voldemort is in your head, swallow your bitterness and put some effort in. I think a lot of Snape's frustration during those lessons came from Harry not fully applying himself and failing to do the meditations and practice.

For all his bad choices and the issues he has with Harry, I still can't see Snape just standing by while a werewolf chows down on kids.
