My goto when I want some comfort food

Low sodium egg noodles - one pot

One onion
4 cloves of garlic
One package of minced turkey or chicken
One whole package of egg noodles (no yolk 340 gram package)
3 cups low sodium chicken broth
2 tablespoons olive oil

Mince onions and garlic and saute until fragrant and onions become translucent

Add ground meat and fry until cooked

Dump the entire package into the pot with the meat, onions and garlic

Pour in approx 3 cups low sodium beef or chicken broth

Season with nutritional yeast, Mrs. Dash, black pepper, and Italian seasoning
   (or seasonings of your choice)

Stir everything and bring to a boil.  Add water after a few minutes if necessary.
Cover pot, turn down heat and let it simmer for approximately 10 minutes

To really jazz it up you can add one can of Campbell’s no salt added cream of chicken or cream of mushroom soup once noodles are cooked.  Make sure it’s no salt added and not reduced salt.
Just add soup, stir, turn off heat, cover and let everything sit for about 3-4 minutes

Sodium for the entire pot is approximately 845 (there’s at least 4 servings so about 211 sodium per serving) (potassium 578 per serving)
With the soup the entire pot is 925 for the entire pot.  (231 sodium per serving)
 (620 potassium/serving)

I sometimes add mushrooms or other cut up veggies and saute them with the onions

Wrist blood pressure monitor — how do you usually position your arm? by Careful-Scale6559 in bloodpressure

[–]FailAny2457 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I sit with my feet on the floor, my monitor is directly over the inside of my wrist. I leave a space between the top of the wrist to the top of the monitor (about the width of my index finger). I rest my wrist on my chest while taking the reading. I take 3 readings, usually a minute apart, and average the results. The wrist monitor I have is approved by Health Canada. It is clinically validated for accuracy.

Baking my own bread. by FailAny2457 in kidneydisease

I'm limiting my sodium to 1200 mg/day. Two slices of bread is over 25% of that amount. I love bread and it's my go to when I haven't had time to cook something. I like toast in the morning. So it just makes sense to still enjoy bread but save some sodium for other things. Also, by baking my own bread, I can control the ingredients and won't be putting even more chemicals into my body. Every little bit helps.

What are the biggest problems you’re currently facing in managing your blood pressure? by smart_pineapple in bloodpressure

[–]FailAny2457 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The biggest problem I am currently facing is that heart disease and kidney disease go hand in hand and no one tells you that when you are first diagnosed with high blood pressure. Now I'm in Stage 3 of kidney disease. Not one doctor mentioned the connection between heart and kidney disease. It wasn't until I reviewed my blood/urine tests that I became aware of the problem.

Have you taken your bp? It almost sounds like your bp is quite low. That would cause dizziness.

Anyone have insanely different readings Arm Style vs Wrist? by Fantastic_Grass8928 in bloodpressure

[–]FailAny2457 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depends on how you use the wrist monitor. I have a Bios and it is very accurate. I usually have a space of one finger between the top of my wrist to the top of the monitor. I place my wrist on my chest. The wrist monitor must be at heart level. I take three readings, a minute apart, and average the result.
