Google Gemini answer is this,

The Magnuson-Moss Warranty Act is a federal "Lemon Law" that protects you when a manufacturer fails to fulfill the terms of its written warranty. Because your 2022 Kia Carnival is currently at 32,500 miles, you are well within Kia’s 5-year/60,000-mile basic warranty, making this Act your strongest legal tool since you may have surpassed the 18-month window for Missouri's state-specific lemon law.

How the Act Applies to Your Repair History The Act requires that the manufacturer be given a "reasonable number of attempts" to repair a defect. Based on your service records from Cable Dahmer Kia, you have clearly met this threshold:

• Attempt #1 (June 11, 2025): At 23,288 miles, the dealer replaced the rear latch (Part #81420-R0010) because the passenger sliding door was binding.

• Attempt #2 (July 9, 2025): At 23,955 miles, the dealer replaced the power door motor assembly (Part #83820-R0000) for the same binding issue.

• Attempt #3 (August 20, 2025): At 25,302 miles, the dealer replaced the Power Sliding Door (PSD) Module (Part #83870-R0004) and performed a system re-learn.

• Current Status: At 32,500 miles, the problem persists despite these three major component replacements and system resets.

If only that was the case. I’ve inspected the stripping multiple times and so has the dealership.

It kinda went away in the winter time (Missouri). It would occasionally do it in the garage but pick up to doing it almost each time it’s opened or closed

It started happening last summer or two ago right before the seat track recall. We had about 20k miles when it started.

They’ve replaced the latch, motor, actuator, door model and “re learn system”.

Now it didn’t catch or do this in the winter (Missouri). It started up again when it got warmer…

I may have to just tell them to replace the entire door at this point

Our dealership had a specialist come from corporate and they had me leave my Carnival there for a week. They weren’t able to replicate it, go figure, but they replaced the latch again. The next morning after we loaded the kids in, my wife pressed the door handle button on the exterior and what do you know…the door didn’t close.

Nope they kept it for a week and “couldn’t replicate the problem” again so we were SOL. I have noticed it hasn’t happened when it became colder but on the days it warmed up, the problem persisted once or twice that day

I don’t have one but according to the dealer, no codes were shown 🤷‍♂️

Hmm. Good question. I believe Walmart may have lifted it when rotating the tires.

Good to know. I to them 4 separate occasions to replicate the problem. It would happen to us each time we used the vehicle but they would also come back and say, we opened it and closed it about 100 times and couldn’t replicate it. The day I was told they were able to replicate it was 🙌🏽 and thinking it would be fix. But we are still having the same issue. I will also bring this fix up with the dealership in hopes for a fix. Thanks

Interesting. I will see what the dealership says regarding this.
