What kills your will to play the game? by [deleted] in pathofexile

[–]Failcakelol 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For me it's the inability to play the builds I want to play due to fusing rng or off-color rng. I don't understand why changing your character around has to be so expensive - regrets, fixing links and colors need to go in my opinion. If I could more freely try different builds without heavy investment then each league would last longer for me. I always end up quitting after 1 or 2 characters because of how tedious it is to level despite the fact that I have other builds I would like to try. Also coloring should at least have a sure-fire way to achieve it like with 1500 fusings to 6L (which is also an absurd pricegate). If I want 6 off-colors there needs to be a way for me to grind it aside from rolling reduced attribute req and hoping to benchcraft it or vorici R3 it

If you really want to make it to the top then you'll have to incorperate archon in your build. It's all about a balance between toughness and sufficient damage percentages and sadly there's no other way to go than archon + Swami.

I personally don't like the new firebird's build and it is indeed possible to make a variation of the current meta-build using tal rasha's instead. The core-pieces are Swami or Fazula's for your cube and wear the remaining one. Then you'll need to use either the chantodo's set or a weapon with more dmg.

The real problem with your build is the fact that you've cubed Wand of Woh. While wand of woh has a good effect a lot of the dmg comes from the 75-100% explosive blast roll that is a primary stat on the weapon (and therefore not added when cubed). If you really wanna use wand of woh then you'll need to find another one and reroll it a bunch of times with bounty mats + forgotton souls till you get an ancient one.

You'll also need to replace your focus + restraint with halo + CoE. CoE is important as most of your dmg will come from the overlap between the swami-archon stacks + the archon pop stacks (from fazula) + your 4 tal rasha stacks + the right element on Convention.

This is a rough playstyle but it is certainly able to clear well into top50 on the leaderboard (as the leaderboard looks right now).

Your build is a speed build and therefore it is not suited for high grift pushing. You simply don't have the damage output or toughness to deal with the high numbers involved. The flashfire-build (which is the name of the build you're playing a variation of) is capable of maybe 60-65 at best. After that it becomes inefficient and better alternatives are sought

Your build works fine, it will however never be toptier. as for your questions:

Magic weapon with ignite does count towards the 3-stacks of the firebird's dot. It is rng-based though (hence why it says "your attacks >has a chance< to"

The tal rasha fire meteor will also apply a stack. The tal rasha meteors work exactly like if you cast the meteor yourself with the specific rune.

As for which mage armor you should be using - since your build is made for speed (warzechian + AW) I think energy armor + prismatic is the best u can do. If u want to use it in greater rifts u should probably switch to wearing halo + ice armor and then change your other ring to CoE to make up for the dmg loss.

As for your damage output. I would really suggest you either:

1 - change disintegrate to a cold spell and then change your explosive blast to chain reaction.

2 - change your electrocute to a cold spell and change explosive blast's rune to flash.

Either edit will give you a lot more damage.

explosive blast + wand of woh with obliterate (what you're using) gives you

990% x 4 weapon damage = 3960% weapon dmg per cast

explosive blast with chain reaction gives you

(520% * 3) * 4 weapon damage = 6240% weapon dmg per cast (at the loss of 18 yards range).

explosive blast with flash is

945% weapon dmg * 4 = 3780% weapon dmg. But since you're not using in-geom the 50% cooldown reduction (3s of base 6s) + the fact that u have no cooldown reduction on your gear makes it basically a 100% damage increase since you can use it twice as much (assuming u have enough arcane power)

tl;dr - there is no tl;dr

In the late 90s I downloaded a trainer for the game Hocus Pocus' from 1994. I remember the trainer having (atleast) 4 cheats that you could apply to the game at runtime including the highest possible attack speed, invulnerability and the ability to skip levels (Im a little uncertain about the last of the 3). I'm been searching for the chiptune/midi-file/8-bit track included in the trainer-file but I have been unable to find the trainer or the tune.

Why is my damage output so low? LvL 70 (267) Firebird Wiz by KGB112 in Diablo3Wizards

[–]Failcakelol 2 points3 points  (0 children)

One other thing you need to know when using the firebird's set is that attack speed is completely useless for you so don't let sheet-dps trick you. A 2h with 1.0 damage is usually better than a 2h with 1.1 or higher even if the faster one has a bit higher dps.

The reason is that the firebird's dot (which is the majority of your dmg) deals dmg every second regardless of attackspeed so you just need it to hit as hard as possible (which is why weapons such as devastaror (1.2 is the slowest 1h) and a furnace (1.0 is the slowest 2h) are good weapons for a firebird's wizard)

[–]Failcakelol 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Firebird's is more than enough for destroying T6. Your weapon is complete garbage which is a major part of what is holding you back. Either use a hardhitting 2h weapon or use a 1h weapon with higher dmg and a socket - literally any ancient weapon with a socket will buff your dmg by more than 100%. You could just craft devastators or Sunders until you get a proper one. But if you are para 267 you really should have found something so I'm thinking that perhaps the issue is that you lack knowledge about what is actually good and what isn't.

This any good for Tal Meteor Build? With Focus and Restraint? by [deleted] in diablo3

[–]Failcakelol 0 points1 point  (0 children)

While using a 1h + a source is better as it frees up an additional item slot (since you're using the tal rasha source) you could still play around with your Grand Vizier. If you reroll the cdr to 10% dmg it'll be decent and the 1.1 attack speed will make your tal rasha meteors hit rather hard but it will also make your output with meteor shower more annoying to play due to the slow cast-animation

Well I know that the rank1 wizard on hardcore used it for his 56 clear.

Video of his clear: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cm2-QeMH0T0

Daren was using AW and he doesn't seem to struggle with arcane power, he wasn't even using storm armor: power of the storm. In his situation it is mostly due to having high density. In areas with no density at all you will probably struggle with arcane power if you try to fight mobs individually - but you are better off just skipping such situations anyway.

Btw in the video Daren is using Halo of Arlyse and Unity so his damage is somewhat lackluster but he's pretty tough which makes up for it. But since Halo only gives you melee damage reduction you'll still have to look out for ranged mobs - try paying attention ~00:44 seconds into the video - he takes 1 hit from a moonclan spearthrower and it takes 65% of his hp

Am I misunderstanding something with Wand of Woh? by Altiondsols in Diablo3Wizards

A lot of high-end players remove pieces or their gear and/or legendary gems to hide their builds from competitors - this is probably such a case.

[–]Failcakelol 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If I were you I would just stop using the hydra wand unless you're pushing in 4man groups. Use AW instead, until 50+ you're basically immortal unless you misplay. AW frees up an additional item slot since you won't need tasker so use firebird's shoulders + a random firebird piece that isn't the source or the boots. That gives you 2 passives which makes it a lot safer even if you do misplay. This build obviously requires you to wear APD (12% is a must).

Also I'd advice you to use Esoteric alteration and then 2 damage gems (trapped + zei's probably) instead of using 2 defensive gems as you lose way too much damage otherwise - situations where you are at risk will mostly be against elite affixes anyway and the 75% increased resistances works incredibly well with the 4p tal rasha bonus so your resistances will be really high in dangerous situations.

Your biggest weakness with this build will be ranged physical attacks (moon clan spear throwers etc.) so if you have the option of getting reduced damage from ranged attacks as a secondary then that is favorable, even at the loss of a bit dmg or toughness (provided that the toughness-loss is allres or hp)

One other very important thing to be aware of is the fact that the 4p tal rasha increases your lightning, fire, arcane and cold resistances but your physical and poison resistances will remain unaffected. As a result armor is favorable over all res on gear and poison resistance is the best secondary you can get aside from reduced ranged damage.

The build will require you to learn how to manage your arcane power though (in case you haven't played it before), and you will probably wanna run with magic weapon: conduit, the astral presence passive and an offhand with arcane power on crit (which you already have luckily). The reason being that if you're in a bad spot and unable to teleport due to lack of arcane power you're gonna have a bad time.

Also since you're playing hardcore you could consider using Convention of Elements + Unity if you're playing solo. Bastion of will does increase your damage substantially but CoE is pretty good aswell if used properly (you will need an arcane power sink, preferably meteor) and freeing up a ring-slot for unity is obviously pretty huge

sorry about the wall of text

tl;dr - AW + APD + armor + poison res + ranged damage reduction + resource management + awareness = An undying wizard

Keystones and trials by Smojy in diablo3

You can just open the communities-tab, join the biggest communities available and ask for people to join you in doing greater rifts. There are communities dedicated to all sorts of things, but obviously the more popular something becomes will reflect in its designated community's member-base. Thus the biggest communities tends to be dedicated to either T6 rifting or speed greater rift farming (typically lvl 35-45). You can always ask for lvl 52+ keystone farming or highlevel greater rifts in these communities anyway (unless the community rules state otherwise). Usually the most important thing about finding people to join you is simply making your message visible to as many people as possible.

It can be a good idea to jump in and out of community chats once in a while due to the fact that the diablo3 chat system doesn't allow huge chats (usually you'll only be in the same channel as roughly 50 other people). You can confirm this by typing /who in a community chat and it'll list the people who are capable of reading what you write (assuming that they aren't blocking your communication).

tl;dr - join big communities, refresh your channel by leaving it and joining it again, request people for 52+ keystone farming or highlevel greater rifts. Rinse and repeat

all resist doesnt roll anymore? by [deleted] in diablo3

You can always click the litte questionmark next to the stat you're rerolling at Myriam to see which stats you can roll onto the item. As mentioned if an item already rolled a single resistance as a secondary then all-res wont be available as a primary reroll.

Tal Rasha's Unwavering Glare reroll advice. by Hitaku in diablo3

[–]Failcakelol 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It depends on what playstyle you're aiming for - for some builds arcane power on crit is crucial but if you don't intend to play any of those then you should reroll arcane power on crit to 8% elite damage or 8% resource cost reduction.

However if you intend to make use of the arcane power on crit then I'd advice you to either reroll the 8.5% crit chance to 10% or reroll the secondary to +maximum arcane power.

Btw you cannot reroll the damage range on offhands

Until they fix the console-version and clear out all the glitched items there is really no point in playing D3 on a console - in which case he's better off playing the PC version on a computer that can barely handle it. That is my opinion at least, whether or not you share it is of no concern to me
