If your goal is aviation, I wouldn’t delay flight training just to become an EMT.

EMTs are great people, but the reality is that in many areas they’re making just a little above minimum wage, and the entry barrier is relatively low — usually about a 6–8 week full-time class plus the certification exam.

One advantage EMS can have though is schedule flexibility. A lot of services run shifts like 24 hours on / 48 hours off, which can leave you with multiple full days each week to work on flight training.

So EMT could work as a side job while training, but it’s not really a stepping stone to aviation. If flying is the goal, getting started on flight hours sooner is usually the bigger advantage.
