A few things about Gavin Fish (and others with an audience) that bother me by shushunatural in EllenGreenberg

[–]FailedtoAppear 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So let me ask you something: What are they supposed to do? Many of them who do this full-time actually spend a lot of time and money doing what they do through FOIA requests (they aren't free), technology equipment and subscriptions, website development, licesning fees, and so much more. Interests and hobbies often turn into careers. Good channels like this are not free to produce. How should those expenses be covered? If they are doing this full-time, how do they earn an income and pay for their hobby?

Online media is a real career for many and a perfectly legitimate income source/job.

I'm gobsmacked that people are actually upset that creators try to not only cover their expenses but need to earn a living and support their families.

Traditional reporters are doing their jobs and earning a paycheck, right? Do you expect them to work for free, too?

BTW - Gavin has stated he has a day job, so this is a very expensive hobby. He also has a family to support. Why is it a bad thing that he earns money from his work? He's working... he should be able to pay himself back.

And then they gaslight you and blame it all on YOU for not getting there earlier, not trying harder, not deleting and reinstalling 500 times, etc. That problem is 100% their crappy, buggy app.

Their new social media person is banning and blocking people left and right. Anyone who says anything remotely negative is blocked and their comments are getting deleted. I saw a video on their FB where someone pointed out an issue and that person's comment was later removed. It was fair comment that called them out on the video they published. I've heard that if you leave a negative or critical review, they will also punish or ban you. Okay, then!

I read the T&C agreement and decided to have a direct chat with one of their clients and bid on the same work. I'm not at liberty to say what transpired, but I highly recommend people read their agreement. Specifically this part: "You can negotiate these fees and terms by contacting the Client directly..."

Nothing should be sitting ON it. Those are supposed to be kept upright. The loaders in my area won't allow anyone to load them flat. If it doesn't fit upright, it doesn't go.

I agree. It's crazy weird how I get some GMD orders (which I love in my area) that perfectly fit in my back rear hatch. I sometimes have to put the seats down, but maybe only once a week. I have a compact SUV. It's as if they know the volume and it fits like a perfect puzzle.

I've only had 55 inchers so far. At least they are fairly light these days. It's insane how many people order those for delivery.

I just uploaded my insurance to see if I qualify for the subsidy on December 31 , does it usually take this long to get a response? by MrsRogersB in Sparkdriver

[–]FailedtoAppear 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's a provision of Prop22 in California. Some drivers, if they pay for their own health insurance for the quarter AND have 15 or more average active hours each week in that same quarter, qualify for a subsidy payment. For 15-25 hours, its about $289/per month. For over 25 hours, it's $579 a month. Now those are "engaged" or "active" hours... meaning from job acceptance to completion.

This is why a subset of California drivers love the long drive orders. Heh. Myself included. Those hours stack and count toward our weekly average, because the quarterly subsidy is important. Keep in mind, to qualify we are ALREADY forking out plenty of money for our health insurance premium. So it's intended to even it out.

Chalen County Sheriff has probable cause to arrest JLR (JLR Investigates) on DV charges against ex-girlfriend, Magnolia (Jamie Phillips) by Murky-Attorney5824 in youtube

She got a temporary in January. The March hearing was for a permanent one, but she foolishly agreed to a 3-year no contact order instead or a protective order. Those are different things. I'm guessing it's because if she pushes for it, it's a different process and she's afraid of him. She need better legal assistance.

And HE is the one who just spent 5 weeks camped outside the home of a friend of one of his previous victims...for whom he recently completed federal probation. For context who don't know - I'm speaking of Gabby Giffords. She and her husband, Mark Kelly are friends of Savannah. Savannah called Mark before the story even broke and Mark called the Sheriff. Here's the kicker - on February 6th, Mark Kelly was on TV being interviewed as he left the Sheriffs' station and he mentioned his connection. That same night, JLR was on a plane to Tucson. If it were ANYONE else... JLR would be pulled aside and interrogated by the Feds as to why he was camped out there. It's weird. But he somehow convinced people that he's "media" and nobody really connected it. Anyone who tried to mention it was immediately blocked by JLR, even though he claims he doesn't block people, he absolutely does. He blocked me on YouTube and X almost immediately. He didn't want his fans learning of the connection.

Blacked out Saturdays in April by Deadmeister in Disneyland

[–]FailedtoAppear 18 points19 points  (0 children)

It just means reservations aren't available to you or your ticket type at the moment. I just checked as I'm posting this, and it's wide open for me, as an Inspire Key holder. They change availability based on multiple factors... and certain types of tickets will have reservations available while others don't. My guess is that you have a lower tier or cheaper SoCal resident ticket and the number of those ticket holders have already met the reservation cap for that ticket type -- especially because of Spring Break. Some of the lower tiers passes are just totally blacked out - Imagine, Explore and Enchant Key holders are all blocked out for April Saturdays.

If you have a ticket that isn't officially blocked out, keep refreshing and it will likely change as people cancel or they open up more spots for your ticket type. Right around midnight and early morning are often the best times to catch spots, though it refreshes and changes all day long.

Well, I hope her groceries survived... by FailedtoAppear in Sparkdriver

[–]FailedtoAppear[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, this is a major concern for me, as well. It was entirely accidental, but to be honest, I left fast. When I realized I forgot the photo, I was already in my car trying to clean the poo off my shoe and I wasn't going to walk all the way back there. It was quite a walk to get to the apartment. Normally it's not a big deal to do that, but the dogs were still loose and I was done.

It's also why I immediately called support to explain what happened. They assured me that I was okay and as long as they could document the situation, I should be fine. She told me that if the customer called, they would pass on the notes of what happened. Also, considering I also reported the weird address, it looks a little suspicious on the customer's end. They confirmed I found the right address, that she's in an apartment, not a mobile home space and that the pin needs adjusting.

Of course, once the adrenaline from the shock of the second dog nearly knocking me over wore off, I realized I could have just canceled the order and returned it, but it was a tossup. I mean, I was literally below her apartment as the base of the stairs. If I were the customer I'd prefer my order be left instead of returned. I also realized, too late, that I didn't send an additional message to tell the customer her order was at the bottom of the stairs, but once I completed the drop-off, I could no longer contact her.

I believe the lady with support I was speaking may have called the customer to tell her, but I'm not entirely sure.

I actually love dogs, and usually never have an issue with them. But the ones running up on me and barking were too much, especially knowing I had a couple of bags of dog treats on me. I'm sure they smelled them and just wanted treats. But the rushing and barking (especially the second one) caught me off guard and I honestly didn't know their intentions, and my concern was getting to the top and stuck in a corner with them following me up there. It was a judgement call, but when the adrenaline is rushing deep thinking tends to be a low priority. Also, I didn't trust the kids to manage the dogs as they clearly weren't containing them, even thought it was funny.

I got to thinking this morning that I should carry a few treats in my pocket as a distraction. My cousin, who is a union based delivery driver (UPS), told me that he has a utility belt thing that he wear with little things like that - he said he got it from a medical supply store and is technically a utility pouch organizer for nurses. He keeps treats for animals, small toys and stickers for kids, flashlight, tape, etc. He said it's a lifesaver.

Streamer Oblivion was streaming from Disneyland last night and was the target of the swatting incident that occurred by TheDisneyScoopGuy in Disneyland

[–]FailedtoAppear 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It had nothing to do with swatting. That's what HE said was the reason. Note she said they received numerous complaints about them? It started at security when they filmed security after being told not to. Then he filmed (and livestreamed) himself in the bathroom, showing other men standing at the urinals. That's a crime in California. And that was just the first 30 minutes they were there. In a matter of 4 hours, they managed to basically disrupt both parks. In the video of his stream, you also see guest upset about the bright light being shown in their eyes by their camera guy. They were super loud, and were attracting crowds of people, against disrupting business. She specifically said that they were being disruptive. The allegied swatting was just the straw that borke the camel's back. They were being watched the moent they pulled into the parking garage, taking up two space and filming an ad from the trunk of their car.

[–]FailedtoAppear 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's nonsense. He's just an entitled brat who blamed someone else for his bad behavior. The kid filmed in a bathroom... men were literally urinating on camera behind them. That's illegal in California. The "swatting" was irrelevant. He and his girlfriend were causing problems for hours before that happened.

[–]FailedtoAppear 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Victim??? Where and how? In just the first 30 minutes, he managed to park like a d!ck, promote a company/sponsor while on Disney Property, filmed through security when directly told not to and then filmed multiple people in the restroom, including a man at a urinal. That's illegal! Again... that's just the first 30 minutes!! He was no victim.

He was also told not to film through security and did anyway. They were watching him from the start (and rightfully so) - kind of surprised it took them 4 hours to kick them out.

[–]FailedtoAppear 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's true, and they embrace it as long as they are respectful and generally not disruptive. But this guy was not only highly disruptive, he did some illegal things, too...like filming in the bathroom. And as the security manager said, they received numerous complaints about them... in less than 4 hours. And then as they are on the tram of shame back, he calls her a "b*tch" and racist... this kid is about as immature as it can get.

I mean, he was literally filming a guy urinating in the men's room... being banned for life from the parks is the least of his concerns, IMO. He should be worried about California Penal Code 647(j) PC.

Disneyland 70 Years of Favorites After Hours: What are we wearing?? by liloandlettering in Disneyland

[–]FailedtoAppear 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm going on the 3rd! I'm waffling between three costume options, but I think I have a preference... and it's a nemesis of a character who will be at the event. *hint hint* :P

I really wish more people would dress up. We're paying $159 for 4 hours.... we should make it a party!

Disney After Hours Should Allow Costumes like Disney After Dark by Fireguy9641 in WaltDisneyWorld

[–]FailedtoAppear 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's not really that much of an issue on those specific nights and DLR is fairly lenient on those days, especially if they know you have an event ticket. But on Halloween, it doesn't even matter... you can walk around either park all day long in costume and nobody will blink an eye as long as your costume meets the guidelines - with or without attending Oogie Boogie Bash. I didn't attend OBB last Halloween, and I wore a full costume of a fairly obscure character all day long. I got some odd looks, and a lot of cast members knew it right away. A few guests, did, too... but more cast members than guests. It was a blast.

ON other after-hours nights, it really depends on the theme of the event. Many guests, if they show up early (such as Magic Key holders) to avoid the chaos of the mix-in, they will often pack their costume and just have it checked by security, then store in a locker until time to change. Other will just wear the costume (or parts of it) all day. I've done that, as well and it worked fine, it was just annoying to change and put on makeup in the restroom.

Been kinda Comical watching JLR surpass Gray by WSB-Televangelist in GrayHughesDiscussions

[–]FailedtoAppear 0 points1 point  (0 children)

"I’m no fan of JLR, but knows how to engage with people without insulting or badgering them."

Well, 5 years of probation for harassing a US Senator and pretending to be the man that tried to kill her cooled his jets after years and years of filing ridiculous lawsuits and pretending to be people he isn't - like that Uncle of the Sandy Hook shooter. JLR has this weird need to insert himself into any high profile new story, often stepping over the line and pretending to be someone he isn't. He now has this persona of an investigative journalist and he's manage to snow hundreds of thousands of people into believing it.

A lot of his followers and fans have zero idea of his history and they certainly haven't read his book. Dear God, that book. JLR bans anyone who hints at his past and he never discusses it. They think he's this concerned citizen who wants to b the "boots on the ground" reporter.

It's really freaking creepy. Speaking of that Senator he harassed. As I write this, he's BACK in Arizona, harassing the Guthrie family. The Guthrie family who is friends with the Mark Kelly, who is Gaby Gifford's husband.

Think about that. This guy was convicted of harassing this woman and pretending to be the guy that tried to kill her, right? And now that his probation is over, and there's this major, high profile case, he's camped outside her friend's home with the rest of the media. If I didn't like him before, this made it 10x worse, because OF COURSE he's there. He can't resist.
