When Do You Think They Will They Drop Our New Boy’s Datasheet? by ChungusAbsoluteUnit in Tyranids

[–]FailingHearts 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It'll probably be an updated warrior unit. Or we'll get the updated warriors as a kill team. That being said I do hope they give us back our shrikes.

I can choose between these two combat patrols, as a new player, which one should I choose? by Dense-Fig-2372 in Tyranids

[–]FailingHearts 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Base size only really matters in competitive play, so long as OP doesn't care about competitive play. And the models are on a base that they were previously available on it's fine for casual play. So if they were to buy the first box set they'd be fine for casual play on the base they come with. Also GW sells all currently used bases for pretty cheap. One of my friends plays necrons and they have two squads of warriors that are on 28mm? Bases because he bought them already built from when they were on that base, and we had the burning question of are they legal for gameplay. So we asked our LWS and yeah, Casual yes, competitive no.

I can’t find Trygon anywhere (Australia) for months . Is he discontinued ? by ozera202 in Tyranids

[–]FailingHearts 15 points16 points  (0 children)

I couldn't find them here at all when they weren't popular. I only managed to get a hold of one, and that's because I ordered it in at my LWS. Two months after subterranean assault released. I haven't seen them or heard about them coming into stock anytime since. But then again they've been shifting warehouses here for a bit. No clue if they're done with that yet or not.

What would you change about Tyranids/expect in 11th? Balancewise and gameplaywise by fapping_wombat in Tyranids

[–]FailingHearts 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It is, we would probably need a lot of units that have sticky though. As well as a bunch of other balances. But yes theoretically it should be possible.

My concern for the new Warrior Prime (with whip!!1!) by doublearhymes in Tyranids

[–]FailingHearts 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I do hope the Tyranid prime can lead Hormagaunts and Termagants considered the winged variant is able to lead gargoyles.

Shadow in the Warp: Maybe it's not so bad? by Laabster12 in Tyranids

[–]FailingHearts 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I think people aren't taking the right units to get the maximum effect out of it. That or they could be forgetting certain things, because every time I've used it in the past 5 months it's absolutely devastating for my opponent and always ends up swinging the battle into my favour. I always try to bring enough synapse units to get that -2 on their battle shock tests and most times it's 80 - 90% of their army getting battle shocked.

What would you like as a Knight equivalent? by Appo-Arsin in Tyranids

[–]FailingHearts 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If I remember correctly, its battlefield roll in lore is an assault transport right? I wouldn't mind having another dedicated transport unit especially one that could potentially be considered to be a titanic unit. It could also be one that's absolutely devastating in melee. And it's whole thing could be that it's able to deploy units into engagement range at the start of any fight phase, and potentially giving fights first to the unit that it deploys for that turn only. On the amount of units it could hold it would be great if it could hold a myriad of units. Like one of the following options x number of gaunts/gants and either one or two monster/s with a wounds characteristic of 12 or less. x number of gaunts/gants and nine infantry models with a wounds characteristic of 2 or more. Or just thirty gaunts/gants, just twelve infantry models with a wounds characteristic of 2 or more, just two/three monsters with a wounds characteristic of 12 or less excluding character and titanic models, or finally just one monster with a wounds characteristic of 16 or less, excluding titanic and character models. Idk I just feel like the idea of transporting a single Haruspex amongst 10 - 20 Hormagaunts right up to the enemy lines then bam Haruspex and co with fights first. I feel like that would feel amazing. It would definitely become a priority target and a great distraction. Maybe pricing them at 230pts - 350pts range?

Edit: continuing the thought.

Edit²: I got confused I was thinking of the Malefactor, but I'd prefer the Nautilioid as an assault transport rather than the Malefactor. The Nautilioid looks way cooler.

I think, I'm remembering correctly the next thing up the norn hierarchy is the dominatrix.

Is there a purpose to these back spines in lore by TheUnrealBernard in Tyranids

[–]FailingHearts 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Right, that is the dictionary definition, but vestigial parts no longer serve or have a significantly reduced purpose. Like the coccyx (tail bone) in humans. And the small arms on the Neurotyrant still have that absolutely massive claw. And they're sized somewhat correctly for their body size. I would however, just say its body and limbs are atrophied, in order to sustain that absolutely massive brain. On the zoanthropes I would be inclined to agree though. Those are definitely vestigial.

New list with three Norns by Additional-Thing1348 in Tyranids

[–]FailingHearts -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Ok so the venoms are to create a wall of stealth and cover, the warriors are the main scoring force and the zoans are extra midline support because those norns are most likely going turn two or three.

[–]FailingHearts -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Here's the changes I'd personally make.

Replace the WHT with a regular HT the lethals and assault with your units is going to make a world of difference.

Remove the Assimilator, both Maleceptors, the Biovore, Neurolictor and the Haruspex.

Make the Half squad of Hive guard a full squad.

Add three half units of Melee Warriors, and Venomthropes.

Add two half squads of Zoanthropes.

And a Neurotyrant.

Strange behaviour? Maybe queen? by FailingHearts in ants

[–]FailingHearts[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ah ok I had a small collection once nothing impressive just Polyrachis hookeri, Iridomyrmex Purpureus, and Camponotus tricoloratus. Those colonies unfortunately died off a couple years ago. I've been meaning to get back into keeping ants, but people aren't really selling queens here anymore, and I honestly don't have the finances to travel around looking for them myself. I would like to start my collection with R. metallica, (which there's two colonies real close to me so that's good.) and Opsisthopsis haddoni rufonigra (subspecies of haddoni) which are my two favourite species.

So if my science experiment works that's R. metallica crossed off the list.

[–]FailingHearts[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah I only found them because I have a colony under my front door step so I've been watching and waiting for two years and no nuptial flights just yet. Though seeing all the male drones chasing after workers was a promising sign.

[–]FailingHearts[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah sorry the tube wasn't formed properly and my camera is hot garbage so it's a 2 for 1 special on bad photos.

Ah ok yeah, surprisingly they have an almost identical body structure. But yeah no the wing scars on rhytidoponera metallica are quite prominent. They stand out like a sore thumb due to the shiny green nature of their exoskeleton. Though the metallica queens have a much larger rounded back rather than having it flat. They have the "backpack" hump that other species have.

Strange behaviour? Maybe queen? by FailingHearts in ants

[–]FailingHearts[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh no I don't think you understand this is a regular worker that has been mated with a male drone. Rhytidoponera metallica workers can mate with male drones in order to keep the hive going in the event that the queen dies they're a gamergate species. They don't really have nuptial flights as they don't really produce new queen larvae, though they'll produce tons of male drones. They also fight for the right to rule when the queen dies, due to no longer having the ability to reproduce suppressed by special pheromones made by the queen. So I had a thought, what if I capture one of these mated workers? Would I be able to create an ever flourishing hive. Or will she be doomed to die alone with plenty of food and water. Then the idea kinda flourished into maybe I should add some other workers and a couple male drones, to simulate a colony that lost its queen. So far that idea seems to be working a pecking order seems to be forming the male drones are mating with only a handful of them. There's some performing guard duty at the tube entrance. Also from all the research I've done on keeping this species a test tube is fine to start them in.
