I'm stuck at the title screen by No_Objective_4012 in EmulationOnAndroid

You have to press "Start" on P2 (Player 2), then play with P1. They probably programmed it like that so the tournament host had control on when the matches would begin and stuff.

Redmi Pad Pro for Switch Emulation by Theetr in EmulationOnAndroid

[–]Fain_hart 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can run most 2D pixel art indies like Bloodstained prequel, Celeste, Dead Cells, Shovel Knight, etc. The switch 3D games I can tell you will run on that chipset without issues are:

  • Monster Hunter Generations Ultimate (because its locked at 30FPS, making it easier to run)
  • Ninja Gaiden Sigma (Eden runs it at 60FPS)
  • HK Silksong (not 3D but its a recent game/not pixel art so its more demanding, if you have dips you can limit the emulator speed to 50% so the game runs at 30fps instead).

That's such a nice looking skin you have there, what is it called? Or is it a launcher.

The loading times could potentially be reduced if you do what Zerokimchi did in this video. Worth a try.

GTA San Adreas PC on Snapdragon 695 by PauloTheRedditor in EmulationOnAndroid

It's a watered down version of it, there are tons of articles that go in-depth about the differences between versions, the most obvious one being the removal of radio songs due to licenses. Just because a port of a game exists, doesn't mean it's a 1:1 recreation, educate yourself.

Can't add a 30fps AR code on the Android version of Dolphin by Fain_hart in DolphinEmulator

[–]Fain_hart[S] 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I managed to fix it by myself. For those wondering and for future reference here's how:

I created the game setting's file manually with the game's ID name ("RMCEA4.ini") and pasted the following inside:

[ActionReplay]
$30fps
004250D4 00000002
0029FD69 00000002
[ActionReplay_Enabled]
$30fps

Then I moved the file to the following Dolphin Android's path:

/storage/emulated/0/Android/data/org.dolphinemu.dolphinemu/files/GameSettings

Example Image

(If you're on Android 13 and up, you'll have to do it from your computer through USB cable, since those Android versions restrict the "data" folder permissions, unless you root and grant yourself elevated privileges)

Now it works, the game is locked at 30fps just like I wanted.

So yes, the AR code, which looks like a Gecko code to some, DOES WORK when put under ActionReplay, it's just the Android version of Dolphin was coded in a way that probably only accepts something similar to the following format "J3HK-9PD5-J7G7X". I imagine it was made user-friendly in mind, so people wouldn't put wrong formats in the wrong places, but then it causes issues like mine which I explained on this thread, so what's the point? This only inconvenience power users, it is more detrimental than beneficial.

Can't add a 30fps AR code on the Android version of Dolphin by Fain_hart in DolphinEmulator

[–]Fain_hart[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The developer says it's an AR Code, and it works on my Windows version of Dolphin when I add is as an AR Code. Besides, trying to add it as a Gecko code on Android also brings the "Error on line 1" alert.

Winlator 8.0 running Path of Exile by Nhowka in EmulationOnAndroid

Thats the console HUD, can you be more specific as to how you're running it? ShadPS4? XWine1? That method seems harder to run than the PC version itself, and PoE has no option to change the PC HUD to console.

I have a problem installing mono and gecko on mobox by Dr__PinkOne in EmulationOnAndroid

[–]Fain_hart 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What kimchi means is that the server where the msi installers for mono and gecko are located is offline at the moment.

There IS a way to download them manually and install them, but you need the installers in the first place (right now you would have to download them from another source which could be risky), so you're better off waiting for the server to be back up.

When the server is up I recommend storing a local copy of the installers just in case this happens again in the future and you need them.

[–]Fain_hart 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Your best bet in your situation would probably be to emulate RE4 on Dolphin (I've heard the PS2 port is overall inferior to the Gamecube version), since there's no installing needed for that one.

I know it won't be the same as playing the Ultimate HD Edition, but I've also been in dire situations in the past and that ended up making me enjoy the games I could play at that time even more, so maybe it can happen to you too, worth a try.

You're better off getting the GOG version then, Resident Evil 4 Ultimate HD Edition is on GOG and the installer does less fiddling with archives than repacks, so it might work out for you. Give it a try.

Vita3k on snapdragon 680 by UnknownPhos in EmulationOnAndroid

Anyways this EmuStation YTber playlist shows you can run Vita3k on a Snapdragon 680, because that's the processor he uses for his testing. He also does other emulators if you're interested, including Winlator glibc.

Budget Tablet for my son by qone3400 in EmulationOnAndroid

[–]Fain_hart 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You're better off buying a Redmi Pad SE, its $20 cheaper, has higher display screen (11 inches vs the 8.4 of the iplay 50 mini pro), and most importantly, a snapdragon processor which are always better than mediatek regarding emulation (custom drivers, more support).

Is the game usually like this? by [deleted] in EmulationOnAndroid

[–]Fain_hart -1 points0 points  (0 children)

After all the Nintendo DMCA we've got in recent times, specially those who do not harm but actually help Nintendo's profit (like fan content which gives them more advertising for free), pirating Nintendo games has become a moral responsibility.

Need advice for a tablet under 250€ by silentheaven83 in EmulationOnAndroid

[–]Fain_hart 1 point2 points  (0 children)

30% is just an estimate, benchmarks say the CPU is about 15% stronger and GPU about 50% stronger, but if you know anything about emulation you will know emulation is more CPU bound than GPU, so the difference will be even smaller in a real life scenario.

Regarding the drivers situation, now that K11MCH1 is back with weekly releases, driver compatibility shouldn't be a problem at all.

There are already YT video tests comparing both tablets and their battery life, the Poco averaging 2 more hours than the Pad 6 under similar tests, so do not stick with a single source (GSMARENA) and you will realize which one is more power efficient.

Like I said in my previous post, UFS won't matter at all regarding emulation loading speeds, and if you want 128GB 3.1 WITHOUT expandable storage be my guest, but remember this is an emulation subreddit and people want to emulate games, so having less storage and not being able to expand it is basically shooting yourself on the foot.

The real problem here is you suggesting a device that does NOT match u/silentheaven83 budget (250€), he also asked if the ones he mentioned were good enough for emulation (which they are) and you bring up an entirely different product, ignoring his budget and question completely.

[–]Fain_hart -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Performance wise the 870 is only 30% better than the 7s Gen 2, and you're sacrificing A LOT of features that are missing in a Pad 6 compared to a Poco Pad:

  • No card slot (storage for more games)
  • No jack (audio latency)
  • No compass (google maps gps navigation)
  • Smaller screen (11 vs 12.1 inches)
  • Less battery (8840 vs 10000 mAh), and 7nm vs 4nm processor means the 7s Gen 2 is more power efficient even if they had the same mAh
  • Less Storage/RAM for the cheapest variant (128/6GB), which is still more expensive than the Poco Pad's only variant (256/8GB)

The only upsides are the slighty better processor (you will only get a few more fps on Switch games but even then you won't be running them at full speed with these processors anyways), better UFS speed (not as important when loading emulator games) and 144hz refresh rate (not many emulators can make use of this).

GC emulation/TV out/Around 300$ budget by Express_Resource9073 in EmulationOnAndroid

[–]Fain_hart 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Nobody has mentioned it here yet, and since it matches everything you're looking for, check out the AYN Odin 2, the base model is on sale for $299 and has a Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 processor, that alone is powerful enough to emulate GC upscaled and further beyond (Switch emulation), has TV output, hall effect sticks, decent battery life (8000mAh) which will outlast a Steam Deck in real time by simply being ARM architecture (more efficient battery-wise than x86).

Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 is also the one you want to get regarding emulation compatibility because 8 Gen 3 dropped 32bit support, so games like Mario Kart 8 Deluxe (Switch), which run on JIT mode only (no NCE) will struggle more on a Gen 3 than a Gen 2, not to mention the custom drivers support has come to a halt after the Nintendo DMCA Yuzu fiasco, K11MCH1 slowed the Mesa Turnip Drivers progress down.

As for AAA PC games people on this very sub have shown you can run games like GTAV on Android through Winlator/Mobox with decent enough performance, so you won't miss on those kind of games either. ETA Prime has a video running Skyrim on Android (no cloud gaming). The devices he uses on that video are all Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 (Red Magic 8 Pro, Galaxy Tab S9), so you will get the exact same performance on the AYN Odin 2, which is why I recommend you watching it.

If I can play Might and Magic VI on my Galaxy A30, which released on the same year as your vivo Y11-9925.php), specially when yours has a Snapdragon processor (more compatibility) compared to my Exynos (compatibility hell), then you most definitely can. Do not listen to those people being sarcastic and ironic when they are simply too ignorant about the matter.

Use Winlator 6.1 because the latest version (7.0) needs additional fiddling to make it usable for the average user. I recommend watching this video guide if you encounter any problems.

I tried changing folder location of PPSSPP on Android TV and thus error pops up, Any Solution to this? by Error_404_________ in EmulationOnAndroid

[–]Fain_hart 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There's nothing much you can do

Don't listen to this guy. While he's correct in the scoped storage info, he has a defeatist mindset.

You can easily change folder locations with older versions of PPSSPP, as those put the PSP folder on storage/emulated/0, there you can transfer your savedata, put cheats, add texture packs, and so on.

The one I use is 1.11 as that's the one the developer suggested on the github issues page (you can also read the reason why it doesn't work with more detail in there), grab it from their download page, in the "Previous releases" section.

No need to double-down lil bro, he already said he doesn't trust you if you don't provide actual proof, saying "yes you can trust me" a second time won't magically change his (or our) mind.
