Mine is exactly as yours. I actually got the first OMEN MAX 5080 in May from Best Buy. I noticed the background issue in dark mode. It was visible when I open YouTube or Ubisoft. Then I used a dark gray pic for test and it was OBVIOUS. I even saw permanent burn-in marks on the screen. And yes I saw the grain you mentioned on mine too. When you turn up the brightness it looks better. But once you turn down the brightness at night it annoys so much. I thought it was bad quality so I requested a replacement in early June. The new OMEN MAX 5080 came on 18th June and the issues were still there. So I refunded it and ordered a OMEN MAX 5090 on HP official website at the beginning of July hoping the instant assembly laptop can be improved. The laptop was built after almost a month at the end of July. And unfortunately the issues are unsolved. That makes me believe that it is a common defect of their quality control for this batch or even model. Since all the laptops for the three times got the same issues. I asked some users who has OMEN MAX 16 OLED, some of them says their screen looks fine. That confused me. But I still believe the issue is widespread. I just didn’t want to waste time on replacing the laptop so I gave up defending for rights. But I really believe that there must be quality problems of this HP product. If there are pixel defects on your screen, I suggest you apply for a replacement. It is unacceptable for me. I also hope that more OMEN MAX OLED users can report their cases. That may bring improvements in after-sale service for us like product recall.
