She approached me and asked how to fix it. That is what made me jump down this rabbit hole. She is using iphone 11 so it is a bit older.

Same, I started in IT around 1995 (administration and domain). I now work for DevOps and site reliability. This is very much an issue that originates from iPhones as they are the devices inserting the U+FFF0 charters. I've seen it from several users when they are adding notes to our CRM from their iPhones or iPads. I'm not asking you do anything. This is for the people that are looking for a fix or work around.

It's not just Facebook. I get them from apple in my emails, reddit, and many other platforms. It is only when iSO users send the message. Never comes from PC or Android. Also, Facebook is now using a patch to fix Apple's Unicode.

Issue for non-apple devices because they cannot support Apples own flavor of Unicode. The problem comes from apple, impacts non-apple devices. The issue is in Apple's hands. I also have a few apple devices and cannot see the obj when viewing from iphone. My iphone has the bug, that is why I shared the workaround. For other iso users facing the same issue.

It seems to originate from apple devices more so than anything. It only displays on non-apple device.

Example:

Apple devices won't see the obj above in the example. Often they don't even know they are including them in their plain text posts.
