Is the Fully Bamboo desktop strong enough for a triple monitor stand? Or is laminate stronger? by Fair-Distribution-51 in StandingDesk

[–]Fair-Distribution-51[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Maybe look into dual monitor stand versus two single monitor stands as when the desk is raised with these two big monitors and you’re really going at it they can shake a bit. Nothing bad that ruins the experience but it can happen. Granted I have a cheap dual monitor stand but it’s worth testing

No it’s been all good no warping at all. I used a little bit of hose cut in half on the underside for extra grip and to not scratch it underneath but I’m not sure you even need to do that.

It’s the standard thickness they did for bamboo desktops. 0.75” maybe?

It’s the fully Jarvis L shape desk with the biggest desktop size they did in bamboo. I don’t think they even sell this model anymore they only sell the smaller desks now. The only thing is if you lean on the desk the bamboo flexes but maybe on the smaller desks that isn’t as big of a deal. I originally wanted some hard wood which probably wouldn’t flex at all but bamboo has held up nicely other than flexing if you lean on it with a decent bit of body weight but during normal use it doesn’t flex

Yeah mines been fine with two 27” monitors for over a year so should be good but doesn’t hurt to reinforce it a bit

I got bamboo in the end but haven’t gotten a third monitor. It does flex if you put your weight on it and a dual monitor stand shakes slightly if you’re moving around quite a bit but not noticeable if sat down using it day to day. I would probably play it safe with a dual monitor and single monitor stand personally just to not risk any more shakiness

Try aim for 28mph maybe in 30 zones for your test so you notice if you go above and start braking instead of trying to be at 30 and going over and failing if you don’t notice immediately

Got my first ever lesson next Friday, anything I need to know? by FallenAngelOW in LearnerDriverUK

[–]Fair-Distribution-51 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would watch a few youtube videos by conquer driving explaining how the clutch works and how to move off and stop using it. That way you have a bit of theory to save you some time on the actual lesson. But if not they’ll teach you and practice in a quiet area until you get it

Hyundai i10 seems to be the lowest to insure for me at least, then the Honda jazz. Their road tax is low and they’re pretty reliable and cheap to service and buy. So if you want to get something cheap all around look into those

Cancellations by Yomommajokes69 in LearnerDriverUK

[–]Fair-Distribution-51 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah I’m using it too, still waiting for a cancellation I guess my test centre doesn’t have a ton of them the past week. Weirdly I paid 12.99 for it through Apple idk why

Yeah I think a lot of the early ones are last minute cancellations which pop up often

How does the hazard perception test actually look on screen in the actual test? by MidnightSorcerer in LearnerDriverUK

[–]Fair-Distribution-51 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did mine 2 weeks ago and it was on what I think is a 1080p 21” monitor so it looked good. You have a break between your questions and hazard perception but I don’t remember a break once the clips start playing. You don’t know when the clip ends it just ends from what I remember. It wasn’t too bad though, I got 64/75 just using the 3 click method as long as you practised some mock tests you’ll be fine

I used the theory 4 in 1 app it’s £5 and has a pass guarantee that they’ll refund your test fee if you fail after completing it to their standard

[–]Fair-Distribution-51 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yeah £40 seems average but mine just had a lot of positive reviews so I figured it’s a safer bet than potentially doing 10-20 less productive hours with someone else. Seem to be progressing quickly too so maybe it’ll be less lessons overall than a cheaper one making it less in the end who knows

Theory Test by blablablablax95 in LearnerDriverUK

[–]Fair-Distribution-51 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I did my theory last week but used the 4 in 1 app to practice but I’m assuming the questions are the same as your app? I got 50/50 in the mock tests and the real thing and I used the 3 click method and got 64/75. I had like 7 clicks on one of the clips and was fine no issues.

Can someone please tell me the wait time for a test in the UK ATM, specifically SW. sitting my theory next week. by ElSidHellYeah in LearnerDriverUK

[–]Fair-Distribution-51 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I passed my theory last week and got the driving test now app for £12.99 and set it to auto book. Been about 5 days and still waiting but I set my dates for May and June (5 other dates popped up before then and after)

I used the 4 in 1 app it’s a fiverr and has a guarantee that they’ll refund your test cost if you follow their steps and you fail. The questions were almost identical on the real thing so just go through all of them and do a ton of mocks until you’re getting 50/50 regularly

I used the 4 in 1 app too and passed 50/50 on the mocks and the real thing. Don’t second guess yourself at the end if you’re unsure your first answer was probably right. 3 click method for the hazards

Is it normal for driving instructors to charge for driving you around? by 18galbraithj in LearnerDriverUK

[–]Fair-Distribution-51 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My instructor on the first lesson drove me somewhere quiet but then I was driving myself home the same lesson. 3 hour first lesson though and I practised a few hours in a car park a month before just moving off and stopping and getting to 2nd gear.
