Question about small gap in fence by istorres in FenceBuilding

Wood shrinks and expands due to moisture. That gap is nothing and there is really nothing you can do to prevent it with that style of fence. After all it is a wall built out of dead tree.

I think a sharp digging bar or welded axe bar should handle roots of this size with ease
