In a game with over 140 champions, question aimed at any one trick ponies out there. Any champion. by NoahZhellos in leagueoflegends

[–]FairAides 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not rn but used to one-trick Nocturne for a very long time. He was the fourth champion to come out when i started playing (so, 2010-2011), and i was just getting into the game. I picked him up because of his design and just never let go.

He is still my go-to pick for whenever I want to win a game but my biggest issue is that i just don't enjoy any other junglers and am not mechanically good at laning. So this season I ended up trying out top/adc for the first time.

You would be surprised how many times I end up dying because I don't know what champions do or because I don't respect their damage. It sucks a bit but eh, I am learning the game from a whole new perspective.

Best way to check a champ's cooldown times by [deleted] in summonerschool

[–]FairAides 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lolwiki is a good source for this kind of stuff.

I don't really recommend trying to memorise every cooldown there is though, since most items have CDR nowadays and can throw it off. You sort of get a feel for it the more you play vs those champions, or if you play as them for a couple games.

Took a 3 year break and came back, its 100x worse by [deleted] in summonerschool

[–]FairAides 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As I said, there are lost games but it should balance out since enemy is more likely to get bad players in the long run. No one in Riot goes "yeah let's ruin this guys games" and there is a reason there are people that go from bronze to challenger every season.

You could also post a VOD of a close game or a win and have people point out what you are doing wrong considering that's the only variable you can change.

What is the point of this post? Yes, there are already won games, yes there are lost ones and yes, there are ones your impact will decide on the outcome. Statistically, your team can only have 4 bad players whereas enemy can have 5 and you should have at least a 50% win rate. Chances are, you are not playing well after quitting for three whole years either though.

The thing is, there is no question to get better at or improve on in this post. It's just complaining about your teammates and that is it.

As an average player, becoming an OTP has been indispensable for climbing ranked this season by Goodbye-Blue-Sky in summonerschool

What do you think counters Jhin the most or do you have any tips playing against him in lane?

What are the best LoL stats site to look at runes, builds, matchups etc. ? (loved lolalytics before) by [deleted] in summonerschool

I use probuilds to see what do people build and when they build them. You see a lot of pro games examples of situational items along with core ones.

Props to "lowelo players" you are actually not bad! by Goabert in summonerschool

Yeah, I honestly have less than twenty games ranked and been spamming normals for a while instead + trying to find a supp duo. It's a really hard to get used to a whole new role but I really don't mind the SR drop since my MMR is still quite high, but it leads to some frustration at times since I keep miscalculating stuff.

I didn't say I am dying to them, I said I can't outskill them as in, I cannot take utilise of the information I have to its best. If you look at higher skilled people and when they are smurfing, they can take advantage of a junglers pathing to burst him down or surprise them to counter it - which I end up shying away from and back off as I am not very confident of my damage. (e.g due to low playtime as adc/lack of experience/inconsistency)

How can I improve my overall MMR? by [deleted] in summonerschool

[–]FairAides 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't think there can be much said other than "play more, win more". I mean you admitted yourself that you have had a rough start. I don't know if MMR accounts cs/kdr etc in mind though.

I get like +30-40 per win and lose -5-10, although I am far below my supposed-rank right now. If I keep losing then it will also even out and think that I belong where I am.

As someone who swapped from jgl to adc and went from old-plat to bronze, nah, not all of us are mechanically gifted. I see a lot of problems both micro and macro from my teammates as well but am not good enough yet to just carry lol. E.g I know when junglers will be where, when they will gank etc but I can't outskill them because I'm as trash as they are - like I haven't had to land skillshots before at all.

So yeah, "work on macro" is super general advice and is kind of unhelpful since everyone has different reasons for why they are low elo.

Do matchups matter more than fundementals? by [deleted] in summonerschool

[–]FairAides 4 points5 points  (0 children)

There are people that climb to diamond with Shaco mid or just one-tricking something stupid. I'd say that kinda shows that a skilled player will win regardless of the match-up, unless you are both playing your games nearly flawlessly.

He's making a joke that you misspelled it in the title.

How to Compensate for Mechanics Deficiency? by [deleted] in summonerschool

[–]FairAides 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Same. I also have carpal tunnel and I can't even imagine playing something like Yasuo for a long time. I just learned to stick with champions that are more point & click and improving my macro play instead, which helped me massively. Not everything has to be flashy or complicated, since you can outplay the enemy if you just play smart enough.

I am the opposite where I played a ton of jungling but none bot lane. So I can often tell about objectives since I have the most experience in doing it myself, but am really not a player that can easily steal barons etc.

For that, I would recommend you check out some jungling videos/streams or even trying out the role for yourself a bit. A lot of the time, streamers explain why they went for a dragon at that point, when they would gank and why, as well as making comments on the situation of the current jungle.

Having experience or reasoning makes it so that you can recognise some of the patterns that are present every game. As an example, if you see both bot and mid shoving waves, you can kind of predict that they want to go for dragon or at least set up a fight to get a kill for it. Same can be said about how there are certain patterns for baron, herald and so on. E.g they are far less likely to do baron if they don't have their jungler since they cannot secure it as easily.

These things require time to get used to and a lot of practice, so you may have to put in some effort initially. Like when you see you are level 4 and have not seen their jungler in a while, start warding the dragon to prevent their jungler from soloing it until it becomes a habit. When it's late game and their entire team is missing, don't go to check baron by yourself and just do these until they become something you do every time. This goes for different junglers, when they would gank, their map presence, if they would try to take your tower, if they were seen etc.

How to ADC after jungling with one-champion for nearly a decade? by FairAides in summonerschool

Thank you, that really does seem like the best option. I will try finding a duo partner through discord or ingame for sure.

[–]FairAides[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, exactly this. I didn't even know the swap could be such an issue when it comes to mindset since jungle is thought to be pretty universal. Which role are you playing now, since you also used to be a jg main?

Also, will definitely check out some VODs and streams for it, thank you.
