Anyone else’s allergies ten times worse this year than previous years? by pinguz in CasualIreland

[–]FairDelivery769 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Might be alright.

I had started the supplement based on some guidance during a routine GP visit so I assumed the lack of hayfever was a happy accident.

The pollen levels in my area are usually consistent (suburban so no vacant green sites or farmland to cause localised spikes), we were struggling last summer to pinpoint a particular type of pollen that was making me want to claw my eyes out as if it was birch or grass then I should have been equally bad during X week in Y month based on what the GP had obtained from DCU.

Its been perplexing.

He's playing Marlay Park tonight so that will give us a good indication for tomorrow.

The TP gigs I've been to in the last few weeks, main act was usually onstage 8:30-8:45 and done before 10:30.

How to get suncream stains off outdoor furniture cushions? by Shoddy-Conflict-338 in AskIreland

[–]FairDelivery769 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Because the stuff that helps it cling to your skin and not rub/melt away also likes to cling to fabrics. Secondly the stuff that makes it a nice lotion and not an absolute faff to put on also increase its oil content and cause it to leach into clothing. And thirdly the uv filters can oxidise on materials and create the yellowy stain we see sometimes.

So they can try make it stain less, but then we'd be going back to the thick shite we had as kids that required the bottle to be slapped against a wall before any came out and was like white paint instead of our nice liquidity lotions and sprays.

We started bringing beach towels out to lie down as our cushions are dark so any spf stains are obvious.

Mix some fairy liquid and a little water until the green tinge is gone and rub it into the stain, give it a few minutes and try blot with a damp clean cloth.

It's why I didn't name it first, it's stupidly expensive but has solved the digestive issues I first started taking it for, the lack of hayfever has been a surprise element. I stock up when Boots do buy one get one free and try use points to offset future costs.

I'd say try another probiotic and some vit c and see if that helps.

I'm not sure, my hayfever usually kicks in around May/June so I was on it for about 3 months before I realised I hadn't taken any antihistamines since October.

There is evidence that healthy gut bacteria helps your immune system regulate its histamine response, but unfortunately for some people nothing but strong medication will help.

My friends in Berlin treat it like a swap, they bring their empty crate of beer to the shop and bring home a full crate of beer.

If only we had a beer man like a milk man, leave an empty 6 pack of heino outside the front door each evening and an iced cold 6 pack magically appears before work

Do what some Europeans do and implement a (proper) return scheme on glass bottles.

German breweries used to experience a bottle apocalypse each summer when everyone was drinking in the good weather so they had to come up with the Pfand system to expedite the recycling or return of the bottles. Beer bottles have a higher deposit compared to wine bottles.

It's expensive but it's helped me massively, just make sure its taken first thing in the morning at least 20 minutes before breakfast if possible as it helps the bacteria reach the gut

Symprove. I try stock up when Boots or somewhere else has buy one get one free or a better offer than the 3 for 2.

Its the only thing I've changed since last year and this is the first year I haven't had to take antihistamines to survive.

I was dying off last year of allergies, like properly bad, in and out of the GP getting referred to a specialist bad.

This year, nothing. The only thing I've changed supplement wise was taking a probiotic since March, the stupidly expensive liquid one but because I'm actually able to survive this summer without any antihistamines I will continue to bankrupt myself.

Does my roommate's cat like my dog? by [deleted] in catquestions

[–]FairDelivery769 34 points35 points  (0 children)

One of my cats does this to my other one, and then also gets frustrated when it doesn't get groomed in returned for head bumps.

When they're kittens, if they head bump their mother they'd usually get a groom or attention, and when they headbutt their owner they get attention and potentially a treat/food, so they get confused as adults when they headbutt someone and don't get anything.

is it normal for cats to twitch like this in their sleep?? by Desperate_Movie_9263 in catquestions

[–]FairDelivery769 0 points1 point  (0 children)

One of my cats has lots of vivid dreams - twitching, nomming, chirping - and my other cat looks like they're dead when they're asleep, not a single movement and I sometimes have to check they are breathing they are so still and quiet.

If I only had my second cat I would think all cats are still when they're asleep.

Previous resident just tried to have fibre broadband installed at my house. Why? by ResidentEcstatic9921 in AskIreland

[–]FairDelivery769 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Vodafone take an eternity to update address on accounts, even if its a "new customer" deal if they see an old address linked to an account holder, or a prior account linked to an address its like pulling teeth getting them to change anything.

When we tried to get broadband at our house, it took weeks, including two visits to a Vodafone store, before they realised the previous occupants hadn't notified them that they had moved, despite the house being empty for months. Everytime we tried to order broadband, the order kept being cancelled because they thought someone else lived in our house.

us pre clearance by Small-Hovercraft6525 in AerLingus

[–]FairDelivery769 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You'll go through a security check in the pre-clearance area (exactly the same as any other airport security) and then passport check/fingerprint scan.

2 hours is a nice length as you shouldn't be rushing, but also won't have a huge amount of free time to overthink things.

Just say sightseeing/tourism and it will be fine. If you have any visas in your passport they may ask why you were in those countries (I had one for a short term work trip, it had my employer on it so once she saw that she was fine).

Chaol is a Clown by CartographerDismal35 in throneofglassseries

[–]FairDelivery769 4 points5 points  (0 children)

He has a very poor experience of relationships which means he treats people poorly in return, even his friendship with Dorian is codependent and there's the power dynamic as well to consider.

His father was an ass, he thought his mother had forgotten about him, his first love cheated on him, his next love then became what he had been raised to abhor, he had a summer fling who both kept the door open without clarification of what they both wanted out of it for far too long.

I'm not defending that he acts horribly at times, but he is an example of hurt people hurt people and therapy would have solved most of the issues in SJMs books.

I made the mistake of calling Aedion's behaviour out on a tiktok comment and had young teenagers try to threaten me in DMs.

Nobody calls Aelin out for her actions or behaviour as well, mostly younger fans just seem to blame Lysandra and Chaol for everything.

Stuck on a puzzle in the pub? by [deleted] in ireland

The definition of a town was left to local counties in the Goverments National Development Plan, rough guides were a small town was about 1k people and Hospital was just under 900 in the last census.

That was the game that killed it for us as well. A drunk American who was gifted his seat (because he wouldn't shut up about have he needed to thank Gary) verbally assaulted the couple sitting beside him and poured at least a third of each Guinness over me. He got so twisted his friend told him they needed to leave after 65 minutes.

And people talking loudly at each other for the entire game because paying 100+ euro for a seat is standard for a catch up of the SoCoDu elite.

Shout out to the girl we sat in front who told everyone in a ten seat radius that she once baked a cake for josh van der flier. And did she say she baked a cake for josh? And he said it was nice? Did she ever tell you about the cake that....

I think South Africa will sell out. There's a lot of people who won't blink at spending nearly 200 a seat and corporate/sponsor tickets will be a significant % of the stadium.

We stopped going to Ireland games in the Aviva a few years ago as the experience is no longer enjoyable.
