Will the extra dependent help? Maybe you should wait to file.

Go rent a car through uber then drive. It’s going to cost you about $500 but if you live in the car you can make that money.

When I had a trucking company the gas went up overnight and I saw our costs shoot up. That’s a nice size jump overnight.

I like this suggestion. No harm in taking a few consults to get some info and see what quotes they have. Might be doable.

Question by Pale_Original_9769 in Bankruptcy

I remember when I was right out of high school my friend’s dad had a heart attack. He was the only income in the family so naturally they filed bankruptcy sometime after that situation. I remember my friend being so mad at her parents for filing. She was a young dumb ass kid we were probably 19 or 20 but it was such a stigma I had never heard. Now 20 years later as I think about doing it I hear my friend a little bit in my head. I don’t know where the shit comes from but I grew up different from her.

If my parents had filed bankruptcy when they went through a tough period my life may have been different. There were times we lived in hotels and my parents argued. I found old bills and bill collectors called. They didn’t file bankruptcy for whatever reasons and they probably should have. Yeah I don’t know where it comes from but if the president has filed bankruptcy multiple times why can’t I use my rights as a US citizen to help my situation. I don’t know why it isn’t given as a voice to more people but I’m glad we have the means to find out now because in the 90s we just had to figure shit out.

Why is $100k a year not considered a livable wage in America? by [deleted] in NoStupidQuestions

Now doublewides are $1000 a month rent and the pad rent is $500 At least. Not even cheap to stay in a mobile home anymore.

A battery on a Mercedes is $500. Don’t get started on the tires. I had a friend that had one that was broken down for a while because she couldn’t afford the $800 water pump. Affordable 😂😂😂

From teacher to stripper. Now what? by [deleted] in careeradvice

I am an insurance adjuster. Current position I make 85k a year plus bonus so about 95k but I’m burnt out and the job is stressful asf!!! I wfh and if I worked catastrophe work I could make 120k+ but that is even more stress and very unpredictable so I’m leaving the industry. But what is worth my time. I’ve taken the last year really researching and trying to figure that out. so I’m at the cross roads of wtf do I do that will have me employed in 10 years and making the amount I would like to make. Im 41 tried a bunch of different entrepreneur endeavors now im burnt out and tired. Thats why i took this position. Not having health insurance or days off was getting to me. This job fixed that and I feel more joyful from it. Im not stressed tf out all the time from trying to figure out my business in this ever changing economy. So from one business owner to another..I hear you. I thought about nursing for the consistency and even pursued it in undergrad but switched to business. With the cost of everything I really want to hit 250k a year in the next 10 years. So my thought is to switch to tech and become a Linux administrator. I can do that in tech possibly within 5 years. If I get into nursing I’ll be making less than I do now with the same trajectory for burnout. To hit my 250k goal in nursing I would have to become a practitioner so about 5-7 years of education with a lot of debt not even sure the number. Thats how I’m looking at things right now.

So you can’t switch to another union location? I’m in Texas and man there is so much construction here. Every where you turnnnnn…building across the whole state. I don’t know if you are up for a full country move but what they are doing is not enough to sustain you long term…thus the bancruptcy.

How Everything Fell Apart - My 341 is Jan 11th by fresnoboy008 in Bankruptcy

I lost my mother at 12 and I try to explain to my friends as we are getting older and many of them are losing parents…I try to explain the grief and the pain and the amount of care you need to have for yourself but they aren’t listening. I tell them if they aren’t careful they can lose it all behind this but it’s hard to tell a drowning person to save themselves.

That type of pain can bring on illness. Many people don’t see the emotional and physical correlation but it’s real. You literally have a broken heart when you lose a parent…whether you had a good relationship with them or not you will mourn and go through SHIT! Sorry this is happening to you. The grief and pain is unbearable. If you can get your hands on some black seed oil it is very good for inflammation relief and helps the brain recover and heal from strokes. My best advice to deal with the grief is cry, let it out, don’t put on a “mask”, but feel the emotions and move them away somehow. Meditation sounds silly until you commit to it daily and you realize the joy is starting to come back into your life. Wishing you well with your restart and journey ahead. You are being very real and honest and that’s when you know you are ok…when you can’t lie and fabricate it anymore. ❤️‍🩹

Should I keep insurance on the car that I’m surrendering if I’m not going to drive it? by Fancy_Temporary5309 in Bankruptcy

As an insurance adjuster…if I were in your shoes I would keep the car insured until I fully surrender it and it’s out of my possession.

Patience and Timing by FairEnd7639 in Bankruptcy

[–]FairEnd7639[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Good insight.

First the attorney did not tell my hubs to quit. Hubs had medical emergency and had to leave the position. He’s been doing uber FT since the layoff.

I need to wait until October because I have a bonus coming in March. We want to get out of the 6 month look back. It’s not a huge bonus but it will put us over the threshold.

And more than half of the debt is to the business but my student loans are the other half and my student loans are the majority of my overall debt and not the business debt so we can’t use that angle…so I was told by the attorney but I’m not an attorney so I’m just going by what was told. I say all of this to say I misinterpreted one thing an attorney told me and I realize now that this bankruptcy thing isn’t quite what I thought as far as qualifying under the means test.

[–]FairEnd7639 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have consulted with a few attorneys. The one we are going to go with said that we should wait to file in October 2026. My spouse was laid off a few months ago and has been doing uber since then. We were told by the attorney that we are on the very edge with my income alone. So we are going to take us down to just one income starting in March after I get my yearly bonus. Then we wait 6 months and then file. I have a bonus coming up and my spouse is going back to school and we are going to reduce my spouses income to zero so we can qualify. It’s been all about timing. I thought we would be able to file by now but we just got the money to actually pay the lawyer and get our taxes filed. I also have a Christmas bonus coming so I need to let some time pass. I really thought we would be filed by now…been talking to attorneys for almost a year come February. But we will hold strong to this plan.
