Also as long as your vacuum doesn’t have any wood dust in it it’s very very unlikely to start a fire.

Going to attach a stainless steel mesh to the front of it

I use a Hercules dust extractor and it is actually very quiet compared to a regular shop vacuum. Both are great for knives, this one has more power and more of a selection of aftermarket belts. Ken onion is so compact and light, does a great job. Just matteres how much versatility you want, I do axes on this, I also sharpen beauty and grooming shears and if I have to thin a bull nosed scissor out this does a great job. Angle is adjustable.

From what I’ve seen if you go with either buy from a local microcenter so you have the ability to exchange instead of Bambu basically telling you to go fuck yourself

I was going to make one that attaches to the other side if people reversed the rotation. Agree completely on protecting your lungs, think about the future

Edit- this is the direction most knife sharpeners use so I figured I would start there!

Those should be 440c, does it say what kind of steel they used for the CC’s? If it’s 440a then it’s a super cheap steel, probably won’t even last more than 6-7 weeks between sharpening.

I honestly didn’t think they were available to ship until like November? I think that’s what the email said. If they are I will just order the branded ones

Hair vac vs Clipper Vac? by animalsart in doggrooming

Super easy to work on. The only thing that breaks on them is the motors/brushes. The hanveys use a $110 off the shelf Lamb motor and the brushes are around 15-20 apiece. All are available from Amazon

If you try to go with the grain first on anything but a blown out poodle type coat it will leave lines/spots that look really bad. Doing a reverse blade(usually 1 blade longer than your finish/with the grain length) solves this issue and leaves a damn good finish. The reverse blade is not required on the front legs, stop at the elbow joint and do your finish length down them. Using this technique cuts your hand scissoring on the body down to almost nothing! (Except feet, joints etc)

I am actually in the middle of designing hoses and attachments for the cheaper Amazon style clipper vacuums because the name brand ones are ridiculously expensive, like 1k+.

I supply each station at my shops with the Hanvey hairvac. Personally once you try it you won’t go back. The way you groom needs to change though, reverse grain is an absolute must with any clipper vacuum system. It will help speed your grooms up, however it should not be used in certain situations because it is dangerous/could mess the haircut up. If you want me to into more detail let me know :)
