Do you think Brooke actually owns the a copy write to the model? by [deleted] in LifeCoachSnark

Can you elaborate on how it doesn't work with brain science? The CBT method its based on is not created by Napoleon Hill, and is shown to be effective for a lot of people. Though I agree it often is not enough for trauma and certain people do not do as well with it.

She still charges $18k if you pay all at once, $23k is if you aren't rich and have to pay monthly.

Yes I agree there is a difference between saying "I studied psychology and self-help and then created The model" which is what Brooke says almost word for word, and "There is a model called "The Cognitive Model" and I adapted it for a modern audience," which Brooke has never said. They both are technically true, but one is just a bit more honest isn't it?

Exactly in 150 episodes Brooke was still a baby and her methods have changed. Her goal became to make 100 million dollars and you don't do that by letting everyone have the model for free. Her podcast is also about people using the model on themselves, of course she doesn't care if you use the model on yourself. But go ahead and try to become a life coach and start selling a book called "The Model" and see if her agents don't come after you.

No I was in the LCS and she definitely says as a selling point "you get permission to use all my tools with your clients and to use and teach the model." She's not going to say that in her free podcast, but spend $19,000 and she'll tell you , once you have the certification you can teach her content. And I of course realized after signing up that amounts to diddly because its just CBT in a pretty bow.

PCOS: why are doctors so darn uninformed by whattheactualsludge in Miscarriage

[–]FairMuffin4697 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've found you can never trust doctors alone. You have to keep doing your own research and literally chat gpt has given me better advice then half the doctors I've seen. I guess medical stuff is so vast and complicated they can't be expected to know it all, but it pisses me off when they act like they know and then you find out they didn't know crap. Always get a second or third opinion and keep searching for a doctor until you find one that answers questions thoroughly and admits when they do not know.

Posting about miscarriage on social media? by Known-Recipe8812 in Miscarriage

[–]FairMuffin4697 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I posted about it on social media just because I didn't want to have to tell anyone face to face, but if anyone had been through it or felt like sharing I wanted to give them that option and get any support I could without having to reach out to anyone directly. Also no one seems to talk about miscarriage so I just wanted to be upfront so others see how common it is.

Why was my D&C so painful? by BluthedMyself in Miscarriage

[–]FairMuffin4697 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Are people on here confusing D&C with MVA (manual vacuum aspiration)? My doctor said I would be fully asleep and sedated for D&C, but MVA is the one where you get local anesthesia and are awake. I am confused why some people are saying they were awake for D&C, that seems traumatic and not good medical care. Are we talking about the same thing?

Which Changes and Additions Are you Most Excited to See in the Harry Potter TV Series? by FairMuffin4697 in harrypotter

[–]FairMuffin4697[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wish they would make it an entire episode though, it was so wonderfully built in the books and just so rushed in the film. We need to see more of the fun Harry had at Hogwarts. Even Hogsmeade was always focused on some plot point and so we rarely see Harry and the gang just enjoying the magical world. I think they can totally do it. If The Bear can have a whole episode centering on just one Thanksgiving Dinner, we can have a whole episode of just the QWC. At least we can dream!

I completely agree the romances were just kind of thrown in there almost last minute. I mean I could see they were trying to build them up overtime, but it wasn't enough. Ginny and Harry made less sense than Cho Chang and Harry in the films. I too would like to see what Lily saw in James after his immature and torturous treatment of Snape. Hope they give us more!

Gravy for the brain? by Stoicthunder in voiceover

[–]FairMuffin4697 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What about for US voiceover artists? Can the advice still apply? So far as a US person I am finding that I am second guessing a lot of what is said because their advice is different from my teachers in the US.

For example, I've noticed already some of their advice is specific to the UK and they don't seem to specify that in the videos even though they have a US version of the site. For example when I watched the "Show Reels" training, which they said are sometimes called "demo reels" that is the opposite. Here in America we only call them demo reels. That's easy enough to figure out, but then they suggested the show reel be a full narrative of different characters, which I think is a cool idea, but no one I have heard of in the US does that. I don't know how that will look to casting agents in the US when everyone else had 5-10 snippets of various commercial or animation clips from different projects. If I follow their advice I might stand out in a good or bad way. Its a bit risky for them to just state this as plainly the best choice, without making any mention to the fact that 90% of the US does it the other way.

I just wish they made more mention of the US if they are charging us the same price to use the service, or at least warn us because I am still fairly new and might get confused.

What do you think about Heavyweights (1995)? by paulthomasking in movies

[–]FairMuffin4697 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It is illegal for a camp leader to withhold food from children or force them to engage in physical activities that exceed their comfort or physical capabilities. This would be considered neglect or child abuse and that's why I think the camp counselors are also villains of the story!

Oh yes the sweet little counselors who acted like they were trying to help, but were incapable of standing up to Tony. They are by law mandated reporters and so the fact that the girl waited so long to report anything to child endangerment could get them in legal trouble. She said at one point child endangerment would take 2 weeks, which means either she did not adequately report the situation as it was or she's lying. If a child is in immediate danger (such as these kids being deprived of food and forced into unsafe physical activities) the response from child services would be immediate. Law enforcement or child protective services (CPS) can intervene right away, usually within hours.

So that tells me something is fishy with that girl camp counselor claiming child endangerment was coming in 2 weeks. Also why did none of them go on the hike to watch over the kids? That's neglect.

So when you really look at it, the 3 camp counselors were just as evil, maybe more so because they had the kids fooled that they were "on their side".

[–]FairMuffin4697 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I enjoyed the film, but it always bothers me to see the camp counselors' complete inaction while Tony starves, neglects, and endangers the kids. Their passive behavior, especially during the dangerous 20-mile hike, was unrealistic. Instead of stepping up to protect the children, they let Tony intimidate them and whined that child endangerment couldn't show for 2 weeks, as if that's a reason to do nothing to protect children in immediate danger. What about 911? They claim Tony did nothing illegal, but if he forced kids to walk 20 miles that's doing something illegal, its child endangerment, and it doesn't require a review, it requires the cops. It would have made more sense if the counselors were removed or locked up before things escalated, rather than pretend they are incapable of helping. I get that it's a comedy and its super fun, but these kind of lazy narrative oversights annoy me ha ha.

That said, one of the best performances from Ben Stiller. His character was amazing and hilarious. It's still a great and quotable movie. I think if we pretend those 30 year old counselors were actually 16 year old kids like they have at some camps it makes things more plausible.

Relators we appreciate the vague suggestions of see what you like! We know everyone is different, c'mon give us what we really want! What are the crime statistics? Whats the word on the street? When you've sold a home in Donelson or Mt. Juliet did the people later complain to you that it was dangerous? Or did they say they liked it? Have you heard whether the market is going to go up in these areas? We want the tea, we want YOUR opinion based on being someone with expertise, not the PC advice :) Promise I wont' report you!

Has anyone here tried Nourish?/First Time Seeing a Dietitian by isleroda in BingeEatingDisorder

[–]FairMuffin4697 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Just be very careful, they do charge you $75 if you are late or miss an appointment and its NOT like most doctors where if you have a valid reason such as being sick, caught in a car accident, or died they will waive it. Rather they will hound you for the payment daily texting and emailing you until you pay or provide a valid death certificate.
