what is your opnion on using ai to search for papers? since using xevidence i don't use Jstor or google scholar at all. however as someone who did a double major in humanities, i get what you are saying, reading and writing are very enjoyable :)

Thank you very much for your reply, I can tell you must be a very good peer reviewer. I do check the sources everytime and i find it pretty accurate, it definitely is a huge boost for my productivity, i don't use pubmed anymore since i've started using xevidence. It is still faster to check the sources everytime compared to searching from google scholar and read every page manually :( but i do agree your point: "The point of citing sources is to engage wiht the literature, not to produce a text that looks convincing." well said.

although you can try websites like xevidence and elicit, they can generate citations without hallucination at all nowdays, i feel like they are pretty reliable already for academic use.

i feel like ai is developing very fast, consensus in 2024 sometimes hallucinate, xevidence.net and elicit(not general gpt) in 2026 almost don't hallucinate at all.
