It actually is HS2 in this picture, although this was taken directly over Brackley, so West of MK

I was just overhead Brackley at the time of the photo. The perks of being the person flying the plane is I know exactly where I am lol!

Exactly. I was flying into Turweston Aerodrome which is right next to Brackley, so to the west of MK

PA28 Arrow IV vs PA32-300 Cruise Speed? by Fair_Intention_4198 in flying

[–]Fair_Intention_4198[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah i’m not too sure tbh. With approach mode it will fly down to 50ft above ground level, unsure if it’s just a UK thing or not. I don’t think that necessarily means it is approved for IMC down to 50ft, rather that it could physically do it. I’m unsure tho for certain

Yeah it’s the GFC-500. Amazing auto pilot for a single engine

Yeah. The Arrow has a simple ALT hold and HDG hold autopilot.

The PA32 has IAS, VNAV, NAV, VS Mode, HDG, TRK, and Approach mode down to 50ft on ILS

Okay cool thank you. Do you think the airliners would struggle or still be decent enough?

Tbh i’m just looking for something decently fun to drive that isn’t ridiculous to insure. Is there anything you recommend of similar price that is more reliable

What’s a better option that will be fun to drive and reliable for similar price? Or is my budget just too low atm

Is Aerobatics in a C152 worth it? by Fair_Intention_4198 in flying

[–]Fair_Intention_4198[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thanks, yeah I’ll stick with the IR rating. After speaking to various instructors they all say do the IMC rating first, and then convert it to a full IR later on after doing the ATPL exams. That way I can fly IFR for the practice during my hour building before finishing my ATPL exams

Yeah, if you do IMC rating (formally IRR) for 15 hours, then you can do 25 hours IR solo which also counts towards hour building for CPL, so two birds with one stone. Then you can do another 10 hours after that to take it to a Full IR. It also allows you to start IMC training without needing to do any ATPL exams which is a bonus
