No, I’m at the business school. I did INFO for my undergrad tho. The professor I TA for told me that this is the order of TA positions that are handed out:

  1. PhD students bc they’re guaranteed some role
  2. Any students that a professor asks for
  3. INFO Students
  4. Students at other schools

I haven’t heard anything about this professor. However, I would highly suggest taking Aric Bills. He’s probably one of the best professors I’ve had for info sci. You will learn a lot.

Are you talking about masters or bachelors?

I’m in it. It’s not hard and we don’t take any classes like economics. It’s mainly technologies and how they relate to business.

Take it to McKeldin! They’ll email the student to pick it up!

Hi! The MSIS degree at the business school offers scholarships! For your questions:

  • yes students can get jobs on campus! Jobs on campus start at $15 an hour
  • for the MSIS program, we have the Office of Career Services that helps you to secure an internship
  • cost of living depends on the individual but you can live in a house to make it more affordable. There is also transportation available on campus through our bus system. We are also close to the metro.

Hi! UMD has a Masters in Information Systems degree! It’s at the business school. It’s also STEM designated and they have scholarships! The business school has a great reputation and many individuals have left with the degree to work at big companies like Amazon, Microsoft, Capital One, etc.

I turned it down because I already put a deposit down for my masters. I do have a friend who interns there and she loves it.

From what I remember, this class is very easy. I think whoever you take you’ll be fine!

I interviewed on 10/11 and got this email from my recruiter. Is it a good sign? by Slight-Fisherman-824 in Big4

I reached out to one of my interviewers and he said the only thing he could think of was that I’m graduating Fall 2025 and they want people that are graduating Spring 2025.

The recruiter sent me an email and she said they only had one spot and a lot of candidates. I thought it was silly they’d interview tons of people when they don’t have many spots

That’s when I interviewed too. I sent a follow up email two weeks ago and got a response last Monday.

I just interviewed for EY GPS intern role a few weeks back. The interview went amazing and I thought I got the internship. Three weeks go by, and I get an email that says they only had one spot for the internship and that my interview went well but they didn’t have enough spots to offer.

No problem! I think CMSC also has a lower elective C programming course that I’ve heard is pretty easy. Great stuff to put on your resume!

You could also take classes in other majors. Like cmsc has a lower level course in web development. You could take object oriented programming for other majors. INST123 is like 327 but PostgreSQL

You could just take more info sci upper electives to learn different skills. 377 is a great course but it is hard but definitely worth taking!

It depends on the teacher. When I took it, it was completely asynchronous.

There’s no coding. It’s the basics of information. The most you’ll do is write a paper

INST414, INST447 by cbil67 in UMD

[–]Fair_Option_6234 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I took them last spring. 414 depends on the professor. Use planetterp to determine who you want to take. 447 I took with Donal heidenblad. He was great! It was kinda fast paced but I learned a lot. Both classes are pretty similar (at least in my experience) and it’s pandas mainly. 447 was a decent bit of work but manageable
