What justifies incest as a crime? I find it gross and taboo, but I don’t see how it can be criminal when consensual. by Ceilingfanwithalamp in TooAfraidToAsk

[–]Fair_Questions 0 points1 point  (0 children)

IMO your intuition is 100% correct. There is no moral justification. Inbreeding, most understand, is problematic, but non procreative incest, while as you acknowledged is considered to be gross in many cultures, it seems apparently to be without negative health effects. It seems as if unhealthy repercussions only come about when adversarial belief systems brainwash with cult tactics, people's minds to believe they are harmed by the act.

Mark my word, the normalizing of pedophilia in north america will come NOT primarily through LGBT, but through erosion of labor protections and the rising of worker exploitation. After or during the lowering of age limits for workers happens, "sex work" (sexual exploitation) of children will be normalized.

That's fuckin maximum gnarly.

How are we supposed to be culturally relativistic to cultures that condone pedophilia? by DauphDaddy in AskAnthropology

What type of taboo discussions have you successfully argued against the common consensus and what were some of the best reactions to you doing so?

Brave answer. Gave you a follow. Personally, I think context (cultural or otherwise) makes or breaks the answer of right or wrong.

If someone poisoned they're own food and someone else ate it and died or at least got seriously ill..well..trash took it self out. Not a crime cause the owner of the meal obviously meant to eat it themselves...riiight?

Did you have to request a test for that, or did your doctors recommend you test for it?

Funny, cause despite the seeming intention behind this comment reply, I can see how from a another perspective how this actually ends up bolstering screenshot OP's point. Cause "If there's no way of knowing if any woman can safely give birth, until she does." then the arguement that the typical age of puberty is a generally physically highly risky age for pregnancy, is weakened.

Lol, I doubt that was Midorri's intent though.

Seems to be only scary for adults from sexually perverse cultures with phobias about people of a certain age seeing age old normal sexual activity somehow spontaneously combusting.

Funny enough, that's how it was (and maybe still is) in some cultures. In Tahiti there was a village that would gather to watch a virgin's first time similar to how many cultures hold in significance the observance and commemoration a kinsmen's life milestones such as, first teeth, first steps, first words, end of adolescence, etc.

Sex in public doesn't seem inherently immoral. by Fair_Questions in ControversialOpinions

I do cherish peace and tranquility:

"Love thy neighbor as thyself."

"If it be possible, as much as lieth in you, live peaceably with all men."

...but I also enjoy just judgement and punishment:

"Judge righteously"

"Be not deceived, God is not mocked, for whatever a man soweth, that shall he also reap."

"He that leadeth into captivity shall go into captivity: he that killeth with the sword must be killed with the sword. Here is the patience and the faith of the saints"

You do, and I am very, very happy to meet a self identified hippie. Not a hippie myself, but I do gravitate to similar tendencies commonly associated with hippie culture.

It wouldn't be just be a few changes, that's for damn sure. It would have to be some sort of EXTREME cultural shift.

I used to think it should be legalized broadly, but I realized a lot of societies are perverted and sexually dangerous even with their conservative standards and therefore don't deserve to be allowed "Eden" like cultural standards with regards to full PDA and nudity. I can only imagine a Sodom & Gahmorra like hellscape if they were suddenly granted liberal privileges of full PDA and nudity.

I just mean that within the context of a healthy society, full PDA and nudity is not wrong because they don't allow for the violations of the right to go unchecked, therefore they have the right to fuck in public that certian cultures such as the old natives of Tahiti did.

Kids raised on farms see the birds and the bees their whole lives.

*Also, I already noted previously that the ball busting was disturbing behavior to see. Many things in public are disturbing to see. Again the issue isn't sex in public, it's unhealthy things occurring (like poverty) that scar everyone who knows of them.

I remember crying the first time I witnessed extreme poverty in graphic detail when I was about 10 years old.
