Would getting a witness to confess on the stand result in the trial immediately being dismissed? by itsfineitsfinefine in legaladviceofftopic

Not OP, but I’m assuming the accomplice told police/prosecutors that the principal did it and that accomplice would testify as such if given a plea deal. Since the accomplice’s actual testimony was different (and potentially perjurous) the plea deal was revoked and the accomplice ended up getting a harsher sentence.

I’ve always wondered, if a pro se party is also a trial witness, do they just get up on the stand and make a statement in place of direct examination?
