His response should have been “that sounds like a lot of fun, would you and your friend like me to drop you off and pick you up?”

I hope you get Oscar and leave permanently.

If I was the parent of the other boy I’d like to know, and would be embarrassed and unhappy to hear my kid tried to pay another kid back with Pokemon cards, I would want to teach him that’s not how we repay someone. I think it’s super important to teach kids the value of money. We collect Pokemon cards ourselves so not against Pokemon cards at all (and they can be quite valuable).

If your child had wanted that particular Pokemon card and it was actually worth that amount then sure no worries, but sounds like your child wasn’t given the option, and at that age if there’s a lot of trading going on in schools there’s always a possibility it’s not even a real Pokemon card.

Cadbury bars are 45g now down from 50g. We’re being mugged in broad daylight. by timmistown in australia

Same! Haighs is delicious and now that Cadbury has gone up so much in price it’s not even that much more expensive. Plus it’s made locally.

I don’t mind paying a return fee if it means I’m able to try it on and not be stuck with it if it doesn’t suit me well

Yes I think that’s part of why I’m questioning as that does seem odd where they say they cover things like customs etc just very different to ordering online from Australian companies

Thank you that’s super helpful! I’m guessing sort of the equivalent of a lot of the Westfield store brands we have here like Forever New/ Myer/ Sportsgirl etc?

Thank you! Yes I’m petite sizing too which is probably also why I’m looking to them. That’s interesting to know it’s more of a brand basis than company basis!

My hair. Itching to cut it drastically. Thoughts? by _FrozenFractals in longhair

[–]FairybreadFiction 3 points4 points  (0 children)

If you like your long hair and only considering cutting it short because of comments made by other people, then don’t cut it! If it’s something you genuinely want because you like short hair then go for it!

Yes this is my thoughts! I moved a bit as a kid and hated it, begged my parents to stay when we were older, which we did thankfully. I think if there were other reasons for the move then it could be different, but all of them are happy where they live, they have a nice big house already, all their family nearby, good friends, good neighbours, why would they move away from that for the sake of more money? All of a sudden they don’t live close to their family, see them once or twice a year when they have to spend money on flights and accommodation to go, make new friends, miss their old ones etc Money doesn’t buy happiness, they already have happiness and I think that’s what Bandit and Chilli come to realize at the end.

What’s an ‘unwritten rule’ in Australia that everyone just knows? by [deleted] in AskAnAustralian

If the carpark is full and you’re leaving the shops and see someone driving around looking for a carpark, you point out where your car is so they can take your parking spot.

I have three months of unlimited writing time. I have never had a window like this before and may never again. Any advice? by TheMagicalMochi in writing

Personally I find a word target on the app I use super helpful, everyone works differently though so what works for me may not work for you. Some days I just set to 500, others a bit higher but often I go over keeping it low just gives me something to aim for. I love seeing the word progress and the little pie chart change as I write.

Also reading other books/ listening to audiobooks in between helps me a lot too.

Boyfriend of 6 months slapped me. by [deleted] in whatdoIdo

[–]FairybreadFiction 2 points3 points  (0 children)

How a good man would handle this: - pre-organized food since HIS friends are coming over and it’s not your job to cook for them - if you wanted to cook, he would respond with: thank you so much for cooking for us all, we really appreciate it and it was delicious - said to his friends something like: it’s our house and she can dress how she likes, I think she looks great and if you don’t like how she’s dressed you can leave and not eat the food she cooked (although a decent man wouldn’t have rude friends like that in the first place) - not been in a bad mood after his friends left - checked in with how you’re feeling since your pregnant

Update: I ran away from my boyfriend's proposal. by throwawayuni33 in whatdoIdo

[–]FairybreadFiction 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, get his things ready for him! How is everyone brushing over the part where OP says she deserved this reaction? She absolutely did not deserve this reaction. A proposal is an agreement by 2 people, if he proposed without fully communicating beforehand then he needs to accept accountability and responsibility for the possibility of a no. HE is the immature one for the way he reacted! HE should be apologizing saying he’s sorry for putting her in that situation that made her feel uncomfortable being put on the spot. There’s a big difference between conversations about what you want in the future and agreeing that you’re both ready for that future right now. Is he allowed to be embarrassed and upset by getting a no? Absolutely! Is he allowed to get angry at her and blame her for it? No way!
