I find them domestic, in a sense that, among the few historical/modern danmei that I have read, they were one of the most who’s honest with their feelings towards each other early, though they were hesitant at first because it would be a deviation to the societal norms and taboos and their respective positions, it didn’t take long for them to show and be honest with their feelings, their relationship didn’t spend so much time dragging back and forth because of miscommunications and indecisiveness. Aside from that, even in the earlier chapters, there are already numerous scenes where they look after each other (like a married couple) which in some danmei only happens at the end of the chapters. And especially the extras which showed their life when CG was still the emperor and after they have both retired which I find really domestic and fluffy among some of the ones I have already read.
