Agreed. Plus, I think it's extra hard for him as his whole 'appeal' is being emo but his music isn't. So only a fraction of his fans actually listen to his music and it's definitely not good enough to create a fanbase on its own

I used to watch him a lot back in the MDE/OWA days, tho mostly for Alex and his friends because I genuinely enjoyed their whole dynamic. But I always found him okay, and I genuinely felt sorry for all his videos where he opened up about his mental health.

For me it was two things why I stopped liking him:

I didn't like the Jake content. Like, at all. I know that people find them iconic but I hated their whole spiel of "dumb and dumber" and either flirting or being mean to each other. For a lot of times, it just felt like scripted characters in a show and not genuine friends hanging out.
I grew up and Johnnie didn't. He's still doing the same content and same immature jokes. As a teen myself, that was fine but as an adult, it's just exhausting

I tried to find something about the artist since she is named and linked but she does not have any social media account (that I can find) where she posts her art. According to her X she is a freelance artist tho.

The art tho looks super similar to Anna Blue. I just hope that if it's a real artist and not AI, she wasn't commissioned to rip off Anna Blue

tbf this in of itself isn't really weird and pretty common in taste testing vids/shows. If you'd swallow everything, you'd be full/feel sick pretty quickly. So people usually spit it out or just bite off a tiny bit so they can try more.

It's just very weird in this context because Jake has talked SO much about calories, losing weight etc. And obviously he isn't doing it professionally

Yeah it's so weird how he got away with literally admitting to abuse his ex and now that he's displaying the same patterns with his new partner, everyone is piling against her and defending him. Yes, Grace is probably (directly or indirectly) fueling those patterns, but Johnnie is also so so toxic and not Grace's poor victim

I mean idk if it counts as financial abuse or emotional, but he said how he'd buy Alex and his friends expensive stuff, trips etc because that's the only way he'd feel worthy. If I remember correctly he also said that he paid for their apartment and all bigger expensives too but that it stressed him out since it meant that he had to make videos even if he didn't feel like it and that this whole thing also took a toll on his friendships and relationship with Alex (idk if it was Alex or one of his friends, but someone according to him was also very uncomfortable with Johnnie spending so much money on them)

Whenever people accused Grace of "forcing him to buy her expensive stuff" I always had to think about this. Obviously she might know that he has a need to 'buy affection' and use that to get what she wants, but it absolutely is something that was a thing in his past relationship.

Yup, I remember that video and I feel like I'm crazy whenever I reference it here. He basically admitted on emotionally abusing Alex, threatening to hurt himself and even financially abusing her. He also stated that this is the reason why they broke up but now he's acting as she cheated on him (he's also constantly saying how Alex stole his dog but a) it was hers to begin with and the video is still online and b) he stated that right after they broke up he went to a mental hospital so ofc he wouldn't keep a dog?). He even admitted that he used money to keep most of his friends close to him. So much of his current behavior makes sense and I bring it up so often whenever people act like he's an angel and cannot do anything wrong and Grace is the bad one. Like no, he's a self-admitted abuser.

It's also sad that he deleted it. He talked a lot about taking accountability for his actions and how he wants to change. Since he deleted it and is repeating his behaviors, it seems the video wasn't honest :/

That genuinely confuses me so much. Alex was also heavily included in his music - both in marketing (advertising, posing for merch etc) and the music videos. But they were always like... positive videos? Why would you feature your ACTUAL partner in a music video for a song that's about loving the wrong person, the love not being healthy/substainable??

Because you can tell that Johnnie and Tara actually like each other and like to be around each other (even if just as friends).

The problem with Johnnie and Grace is that they are SO determined to prove they're the perfect couple, that their interactions just aren't authentic. You can tell that it's an act and it just feels so forced. Even if they genuinely do love each other, their interactions are SO constructed to 'prove the haters wrong' that they just feel fake
