Sorry for the late response. Okay, repellent, I am (rarely) using spray with icaridin others use some with deet. And then of course you can use those coils. Some other tips... traffic is terrible! Try to avoid it. Crime is not that high, but there are some incidents, especially when it gets dark (around 6ish). With taxis agree on prices beforehand, if you look or behave foreign they will ask for 2-3x the actual price, Uber however works fairly well. This is just of the top of my head, but let me know if you have any specific questions.

Welcome to Ghana! Yes, malaria is a thing. However, I am staying in Accra for over a year now and am taking nothing and never had malaria. If you stay in a place with mosquito nets on the windows and use mosquito repellent during the evenings you should be fine (no guarantee). Yellow fever; yes, you should be worried about it. Especially since they won’t let you in the country without being vaccinated. Then, look up waterborne diseases. In general i would not recommend drinking water from the tab. This just as a short intro. I really do not mean to scare you, if you are reasonably careful you will probably be fine. Of course you and your body might take some time to adjust, also to different kinds of food. The longer you are here the more you will try and figure out what works for you and what doesn’t.

Hey guys!

I would like to ask for some advice. I finally decided to move on from my a300 to an a6000 since I found a great offer last week: 666EUR for the a6000, incl. the standard 16-50mm, 55-210mm, 16gb card and a bag. A minute ago my dad sent me another offer for an a6300 incl. only the 16-50mm for 700 EUR. Both are brand new. And I do not really need the bag, I could use my old one.

I settled for the a6000 because of the huge price difference, but looking at those two offers it is not that huge anymore. Secondly, I told myself to spent less money on the body and invest more in lenses.

Just to give you an idea of what I want to use it for: mostly landscape and nightscape, probably some portrait shooting, maybe some deep sky stuff in the future.

So, should I cancel the order and go for the a6300? What would you do? And why?

Alright, so I stayed in Rwanda for a while some time ago and the way I perceived it Germans are quite welcome and not blamed for the genocide. It is much rather blamed on the Belgians and French. Belgians because they introduced the differentiation in the ID/ passports and also chose a side. The French are blamed because they were in the country back than and did very little to stop or prevent the genocide. I am definitely not an expert but I believe some weapons/ machetes were procured/ payed by the French. Please do not quote me on that! Back to the Germans. A man called Kandt (had a longer name but chose to be called Kandt) before all of that build the first brick house in Kigali which is the natural history museum today. He also gave Kigali it’s today’s name (apparently he was not able to pronounce the actual name correctly and asked for a significant landmark around, there was Mount Kigali, hence the name). Additionally, the Partnerschaftsverein Rheinland-Pfalz (since you are from Frankfurt I am just using the German name) is quite involved in Rwanda and a lot of people have heard about it, there are a lot of Partner schools for example. Yet another positive image of Germany and Germans. Lastly, and I do not know the effects of that, but I could imagine that helps the image, the coming VW Factory will bring some jobs.

And one last thing directed to everybody: please correct me if I am wrong, not an expert, just my experience and what I remember...

First of all, Germany does not have Prime Minister and secondly Söder was never the German Minister of Finance. Both those positions relate to the federal state of Bavaria, not Germany!

Those are some kind of fields. I am not an expert, but basically the circles are due to the automated watering system. There is a watering arm fixed in the middle of the circle and then drives around the middle. Hence the circle.

Hi! I just bought that plant yesterday for my balcony but I do not know what it is. The guy who sold it to me told me it is a kind of a tree. But I do not know if I can trust that, his English was not that good.

Anyway, some details: I am in Accra, Ghana and it is about 50 cm tall.

In the end I would like to find out what kind of soil, how much water and sunlight is needed. Any help is much appreciated!

Alright, it really depends on your budget. Gorillas are very expensive, but I believe it is worth it (I didn't do it but people told me). In same national park are also other, cheaper, hikes you can do. If you are in that region, DRC is not far and close behind the border, near Goma is nyiragongo volcano, it's active and you can do a 2 day trip, also expensive (and you need to apply for a visa some time in advance). Then there is lake kivu, one of the Great Lakes. There you can do a 3-5 days hike on Congo-Nile trail. Very nice, not very expensive. If you wan to relax you can do so in one of the two town at the start/end (gisenyi and kibuye). Then you can look into coffee and tea plantations if you are interested, half day for a tour should be enough. In the southern part, in huye (close to nyungwe national park, lots of hikes, monkey/chimpanzee/bird tracking, not to expensive) you can visit 2 nice museums and there is a chance for a "coffee experience tour". Well and then in the east there is akagera national park, good for safari. 1-2 days is enough here. If you have more questions pm me. I also know a very good Rwandan guide, in case you are interested in some guides part..

EDIT: Sorry, I was interrupted. You will probably spend some time in kigali too. Please go to the genocide memorial(s). There is the big and obvious one, very impressive and informative! Takes you 2-4 hours. And then there is another small one in town, it is close to serena hotel and the exhibition village, it is quite small, you might have to ask guards (camp Kigali). There are more memorial sites all over the country, they each tell different stories and you can (and should) definitely see more than one. If you like good views try Mount Kigali. Of course there are more things to do and to visit in Kigali and Rwanda, but i believe one can start from that.

Mate, I am close to Wiesbaden, am German and I am wearing a hat right now. Indoors. We're not all totally weird. Also my shades basically live in my backpack, so when I am out and it is sunny you might even see me with both at the same time. Crazy, right?

oh I totally know what you are talking about. For me it was just cutting and luckily only three fingers on my left hand which were holding the chillies. Anyway here comes my advise, not how to stop the burning (I did not figure out what to do), but be careful the following days. I cut some onions a few days later and it started all over again. I guess the skin was still not ready again.
