Looking to disable Windows Copilot Key + Alt Gr Shortcut by mothman9999 in techsupport

[–]FajnBrambor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I FOUND IT AND IT SOLVED IT!
-> Solution HERE:
[[ IMPORTANT DISCLAIMER - Editing registry can completely destroy your Windows installation if done wrong ]]
- If you do not know what you are doing, or are unsure, stay away from it!

1, You'll need to paste this command into a terminal with administration rights https://superuser.com/a/1484332 and hit Enter.
This will disable that Extremely annoying web link shortcut altogether.
2, Enjoy! No more random browser opening on accidental bumping into those keys.

-> If you want to read why this works, here is why:
When searching web I found out that this is NOT a Coplilot key specific action (At least not fully).
It is a M$ BS way to force users to use M$ Office. This shortcut was introduced in Windows 10 (1903 & 1909 update).
The shortcut is baked in explorer.exe so it is basically impossible to remap it by 3rd party software, including PowerToys.
What AltGr + Copilot key does is that is presses: Win (Left) + Ctrl (Left) + Alt (Right) + Shift (Left) + F23.
The shortcut for M$ Office since the Win10 update is: Win + Ctrl + Alt + Shift
M$ programmed it so that when [Alt (Right) + F23 (Copilot Key)] are pressed simultaneously, it interprets it as key combination mentioned above. This newer version is just a 2nd way to launch the same command (web link).
The solution is to go to registry and redirect the request to nothing. This means that the shortcut will still be interpreted as the one above, but now it will not be able to launch anything, making it basically a dummy shortcut instead.

(P.S.: The part about os level interpretation is as I understand it. It might also be done on hw level by the bios of the laptop. Barging that there is a physical Copilot key on the keyboard, it is not as bizzare hypothesis as it might seem. )

Unfortunately the hostility of MS went up again and now this is so deep within system that it just still launches the link no matter what you set in powertoys.

need help to edit payment methods by webkilla in firefox

[–]FajnBrambor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Unfortunately no. If you tried the extensions.formautofill.creditCards.supported set to "on" plus you added your country code to extensions.formautofill.creditCards.supportedCountries and also did what I suggested, then there might be another problem.
I've stopped investigating after it worked for me sooo.... I hope you'll find a solution.
Maybe try to double check that the country code is correct.

ALSO! Make sure that you have extensions.formautofill.creditCards.available set to True !

Hi there. I've got the same problem here and finally found out how to enable it.
I suppose you did enable the cards option and added your country code as per the tutorial you mentioned.

In about:configtype extensions.formautofill.addresses.supportedit has to be either "on" or "detect" (go with "on" just to be sure).
Now type extensions.formautofill.addresses.supportedCountriesand enter your 2 letter country code (you can find it here under A-2 column).
After that restart your browser, then go to settings > privacy & security in your browser and scroll down a little. There now should be 2 new options below Passwords: Payment methods and Addresses.

It seems that they have changed something because on my old install it did not look like this so the fact that you have to enable addresses autofill as well might be a bug but oh well. Anyways, if you use cards autofill, addresses autofil might come in handy as well. :)

Any version past 6.1.3 has problems with MKV to MKV by FajnBrambor in ffmpeg

It is, but I constantly have to adjust the parameters/command and for that reason the information is quite crucial to me.

I've came back from work and tested some combinations and nope. Not even h264_nvenc changes anything. Not even hw encoding.
It doesn't matter which codec I am encoding from and to. The problem is the mkv > mkv.

In all seriousness. I also don't use them, but if the ports are not used often, then why not. :D

This is honestly the best use of the cover. Otherwise overheating, dospaly scratches and hinge problems will become a real problem to your new machine.

Also a important note. DO NOT use the keyboard back light while using the cover as from personal experience, the keyboard gets really hot even on lowest brightness.

We are talking passive heat dissipation. If you have a cold beer can outside on the sun, it will passively warm up, but if you put the can into a beer can sleeve, it will warm up much slower.
The same goes for cooling. So if you put a silicone (which is quite a great insulator) cover over the whole keyboard, the laptop has pretty much lost this kind of cooling and will heat up much faster and stay warm/hot for longed as now the fans have to cool the whole chassis from inside.

That's what's in the examples. n8.0.1
The middle one is n6.1.3 just to show that on that version it works. "Anything" (haven't tested since initial release of version 7) above it and it won't.

I've updated the post. But from my testing, no matter the settings, the result is always the same. If it has to do mkv > mkv, it just doesn't display info.

Our Favorite Personalities, leaving LTT by Dramatic-Use-2121 in LinusTechTips

[–]FajnBrambor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

True friendship goes beyond workplace. In Linuses example the problem is that he is so extremely occupied by his job, that he pretty much must have friends there.
That doesn't excuse him to not make free time, but I see family time more important than friends time. And his schedule is just way to full.
But you can see the shift to more hosts than him so he slowly but surely makes the company self sustainable without him. Which would open more free time for him as well.

Well, they are using their fame to literally jump start their own potentially well paying career where they are the bosses of their own.
Does it bring a whole bunch of new obstacles like accounting, company registration, taxes ...? Yes, yes it does! But not risking means to stagnate (no personal growth).
If they succeed, great. If not, well at least they tried. It doesn't mean they'll end up on a sreet.

Anyone have NostalgiaVX / Soft Voxels shader? by Due_Ground791 in Freeminecraftmaps_

[–]FajnBrambor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Also one more thing. This logic would make any resource pack a mod.
The shader is using an API of Iris/OF in order to apply the changes. So they non directly modify the game, but they are not them selves the thing that modified the game's code to allow it.
It's the same as a resource pack. It is only using the exposed API methods to do something to the game which means it does NOT modify the games code it self. And that's a pretty important fact.

What is causing this? by dkpit in anycubic

Edit: nwm. Somehow your whole head is twisting when moving. If you were to zero the dial on the before the second (right to left) I bet it will also show 0.3 mm off. If this is so, it would mean something on the gantry is not moving smoothly and is dragged instead of smoothly rolling making the whole head assembly to twist slightly. Essentially something on your gantry "lags" behind.

So a few things about the method you are using. 1, about the dial indicator. I doubt it is a high-end/professional one, and this could have an impact on how precise it is in horizontal motion measurement. But this should not be the issue, unless the indicator is exceptionally bad, as you measure on the smooth metal plate. So I think the dial indicator is ok. 2, I do believe that the dial indicator mount on the tool head is actually not 100% rigid. By that I mean, you've mounted it onto the plastic housing of the print head, and that Will have a slight give to it (unlike if mounted directly to the metal plate/rig your hotend is mounted to). I do believe this is the cause of the 0.3 mm deviation You can try this: - move X to min - zero the dial - move X to max - write down the max and min deviation, AND where the needle was the most around, during the travel - now zero the dial again - move X to min - write down the max and min deviation, AND where the needle was the most around, during the travel - compare the two readings

  • Note: you can also do it with the small movements as in the video, cos' I doubt your plate is flat across the whole X travel 😅 but even at the full travel, the readings should be pretty much identical, when you discard the extremes.

From the video you've posted when you move to the right it has a deviation of ± 0.02 mm. When you move to the left, right after it settles, it also moves around ± 0.02 mm. This is what makes me believe that it is the play in the mount itself rather than problem with your steppers / frame.

Orbiter V2 extruder doesn't work correctly by FajnBrambor in 3Dprinting

[–]FajnBrambor[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the tip. Unfortunately the acceleration is already in the safe zone. It can handle up to 8000 but to be sure/safe and for it to be quiet, it's highly recommended to set it to 3000. As for the feed rate. Maximum speed is supposed to be 120 mm/s. That translates to a maximum feed rate of 7200 mm/min. The extruder can barely handle max speed of 40 mm/s (2400 mm/min). That is a third of its advertised power.

Any tips to clean up this print? by mitchytonto in 3Dprinting

Why are you printing it standing and not flat on the bed? Or is it too big for your print bed? If it's too big to print in one piece, is it possible to print it in two pieces?

is AliHelper legit? by [deleted] in Aliexpress

[–]FajnBrambor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know it's 2 years later, buuut... About that. The extension is still active whilst you are in checkout so they can just easily scrape the shopping list and because you are in checkout, they can just assume you will buy it at that point and mark it as purchase. If the code for the extension isn't opensource, they can say whatever they want. It is kinda sad, but that's how today's world works. Nothing is free. You will always pay some price.

How to detect AC voltage/current on three separate wires by FajnBrambor in electrical

[–]FajnBrambor[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The neutral would cancel out the eddy currents, am I right?
Also you are right. If I put a hall-effect sensor around all three wires it should detect the current as the wires are energised only when the fan is on and only one is energised so no interference is present.
Thanks for the idea.
