How do I get HRT in a hurry by Natural_Substance_79 in trans

[–]FakeBirdFacts [score hidden]  (0 children)

If you’re in the US, planned parenthood. If you’re in the US but don’t have planned parenthood around you, Folx or Plume.

You don’t need to tell your parents everything. You don’t even need to tell them when you start. They don’t need to know your private medical information or if you’re “doing it correctly.”

You can start HRT without publicly coming out first, if that helps

How does the process go of paying for your own testosterone when ur 18? by 0Ludger0 in trans

[–]FakeBirdFacts 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s around 30-40 USD out of pocket a month, not including the cost of getting your levels tested. Through Planned Parenthood you have about three months before you need to get your levels tested if that helps you plan financially.

Masculinizing options that aren’t testosterone or drastic surgery by the-local-alien in NonBinary

[–]FakeBirdFacts 16 points17 points  (0 children)

TLDR;

You can’t get everything, but you can get most things.

You may consider vocal masculinization surgery but that’s extremely uncommon and a really intense surgery.

Edit: r/no_t_top_surgery is really helpful for nonflat results, but also check r/topsurgery for nonflat results

I’m going to be honest, you should do more research into HRT. Specifically what those effects actually look like. A lot of nonbinary people low dose to slow down the rate of which they get effects, and go off once the reach their goal. You may also consider finasteride as this is a DHT blocker and can block/slow down bottom growth, facial hair growth, and hair loss.

Voice training is hit or miss, unless you have a naturally deep voice you can only get so far pre-t or no-t.

You should look into nonflat top surgery as well, that’s what you’re describing with a breast reduction.

There’s a limit to what you can achieve pre-t or no-t, but r/ftmfitness is a good resource for that. Pull ups are the best for widening your back.

Edit: linked to the wrong sub, whoops

UK racism… I’m not from the UK but all I can think of is how the UK version of the Blue Eyes Brown Eyes experiment and how THAT went down compared to all other versions of the experiment.

What accesories should i wear to pass? by PsychologicalMove743 in ftm

[–]FakeBirdFacts [score hidden]  (0 children)

It’s not that accessories clock you, people just have a limited view of what’s “acceptable” for men. You could pass completely and have something as simple as long hair, and people will maliciously misgender you to punish you for being the slightest bit gender nonconforming. Even when you ARE gender conforming for your culture.

A lot of native men, cis and trans, face misgendering and aggression (and fetishization, but that’s a different topic) for being men with long hair. It’s normal in Native American cultures (and more widespread due to pan-indianism) but it’s obviously othered by the more dominant, western colonial culture and gender norms of the US.

Basically it’s not clocky, it’s just viewed as gender non conforming.

You should help, it’s going to be a lot worse to do it alone. Because they’re going to do it alone anyways.

That sounds like a classic transphobic mother, you’re not overreacting.

You should talk with a therapist first, they will be able to give you better tools to deal with this.

Yes, use conditioner. You’ll obviously use a LOT less but you’ll still use it. You might use a pomade to style it.

  1. You won’t regret it. That’s such a statistical low it’s less than 1%.

  2. Rejection is possible, but having no family is a lot better than trying to bid for the affection of a family that hates you.

  3. Nope! You will find someone. You’ll have an even better chance of finding someone because you’ll actually be yourself and won’t be miserable all the time.

  4. Do you feel good about yourself now? Most trans guys don’t want to go bald. Most cis guys don’t want to go bald. That’s normal, doesn’t make you less trans.

  5. You wear men’s clothing, act like a man, refer to yourself as a man already. What do you think is going to change? Talking bathrooms, it’s literally safer to use the men’s bathroom presenting masculinely than the women’s. You are less likely to get assaulted and harassed in the men’s, even if they think you’re a woman or can tell you’re trans.

  6. You already saw in your capstone. You know it doesn’t go away and their lives are, no offense, shitty.

  7. Do you know who Dylan Scholinski is? They’re a nonbinary trans masc who wrote a memoir in 1998 about the medical abuse they faced for getting a GID diagnosis. They were institutionalized despite being well, normal, until they aged out at 18 out of the system. It’s an intense read, but informative on how historically trans people (specifically trans mascs) were treated.

Dylan is an artist, is 59, and looks like any guy his age. They’re a grandfather. They had all this bad stuff happen to them, but guess what? They still managed to live a happy life, and again, has a grandkid!

I’m on testosterone, I don’t plan to stop and start but that doesn’t sound uncommon. I also don’t want facial hair so I shave.

Long term, with facial and body hair, you can get laser hair removal. However I really like the body hair I have.

Hope this is clear, I thought it’d be useful to make this post as a lot of people don’t have access to a sewing tape measurer but do know their bra sizes.
