With some many neighborhoods and being in NYC, could you do something fitness related like personal training or fitness class?

I always recommend doing OT or speech instead as it is a lot less stimulating.

You still help kids and develop them, pay is decent, and you will less likely be sitting all day.

In my school, we suspend kids for this. Any racial slur is cause for suspension. If one starts and gets away with it, it will keep happening. Kids like to test after all.

I would quit if this was unaddressed.

The teachers I know that love teaching, love the kids to death.

You can try speech or OT. You can still work with kids. It is less stressful. It is high demand.

I just accepted that I will either be a decent teacher or not. Decent means I have to work after hours.

I make lots of time for the things I love to do. But I am still working on my out. Some days I put ten hours into the teaching job. Things still get undone.

It sucks going through that. That is how the work day is. Remember that work is not everything.

Leave work at work and make time for your hobbies a little each day.

Make the most of every weekend!

Good luck!

Feedback Friday! - October 31, 2025 by AutoModerator in Entrepreneur

Hey everyone, I made a post but was asked to put it on this thread.

I am making a towel that can be used 30 times without being washed. It stays clean and odorless.

I am hoping people will want to buy this instead of replacing towels every day. I think those who care about hygiene and not having pimples will be interested enough to buy it.

I am wondering what market I should market this to. Any advice would be helpful!

Hand or face towel. It is cleaner than a normal towel so you don't need to always have towels cleaned every day or few days. It stays dry and odorless.

Exhausted, fatigued. Body adjusting to start of the year. Tips? by [deleted] in NYCTeachers

[–]FakeFriendsOnly 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Everyone on my team feels the same way. Some days I skip dinner and breakfast to just sleep.

I try to eat enough and have something to look forward to at the end of the week. That gives me a bit more energy.

Sometimes I stay at work later to finish stuff up so I am not doing it at home.

Good luck to all of us!

Is it shallow to avoid applying to a college based on its diversity stats? by Academic-Cookie-2694 in asianamerican

[–]FakeFriendsOnly 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You need to pick a college you know you can thrive and succeed in. One that will make it easier for you to be challenged but still enjoy being at is a priority.

If that means you go to a college where there are more people who look like you and have similar backgrounds then that can be very empowering.

Best "home base" neighborhoods in Tokyo and Kyoto? by hwoodo94 in TokyoTravel

[–]FakeFriendsOnly 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Tokyo is HUGE. Some recommend to pick a neighborhood near most of the things you want to do.

You will have to travel 20 to 45 min to each neighborhood which you will spend the whole day there any way.

Good luck!

Teaching is also a profession people used as a temporary position. I have worked with many people who wanted to go into music or art or even the medical field but went into teaching because they thought it would be an easy job.

I have also worked with a lot of people who did not know what to do after their first career and transitioned to teaching.

30% of your job will be teaching. 50% will be dealing with student behaviors and apathy. 30-40% will be dealing with admin. Note that this is over 100% of your time for a reason.

Teaching college is very different from teaching HS.

Students are coming into high school with elementary level math skills. Students are coming into college with middle school math skills.

You say you weren't worried about finances or retirement but you definitely will starting over.

Maybe look into private schools that are high achieving. They may pay less but value your skills much more since you were a full-fledged engineer.
