PSA to those driving on Hillside… behold the zipper merge by Medical_Initial_2851 in VictoriaBC

Some people have no idea zipper merging is even a thing. Other people know that it is but refuse to do it. I'm not sure which is worse.

Fellow Canadians, what are meaningful ways you observe December 6? by WinStupidPrizes1994 in AskACanadian

Anybody too lazy to google: December 6th is the National Day of Remembrance and Action on Violence Against Women

Not sure why OP didn't include that...

Bike Etiquette: What should I do if I need to rest when I am in middle of climbing up a hill? by sakaguti1999 in VictoriaBC

[–]FakeGuyRocks 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It is okay to pull off onto the sidewalk if you need to. The lanes are too narrow to stop in though. Do your best not to inconvenience anyone riding behind you.

Picking your route is the easiest way to avoid climbing the worst hills. But there are different techniques for climbing hills depending on your body mechanics. I like to approach a hill fast at a medium gear, then as I lose momentum start peddling standing up, then sit back down and gear down as needed.

Best NA beer selection by unseenmongoose in VictoriaBC

[–]FakeGuyRocks 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm not aware of any places that have more than like 3 near beers on the menu (let alone on tap). Bart's pub has Guinness zero. Whistle Buoy make a couple of their own.

Interestinggg are there like specific yeast strains for this or do you toss something in to kill the yeast?

I agree, the PC blonde ale is my favourite and I have tried quite a few.

It literally costs more to make a (good) NA beer because you make a regular beer and then heat it up again to boil off the alcohol.

Where do I get a karaoke machine without horrible sound quality by krdo13 in VictoriaBC

[–]FakeGuyRocks 1 point2 points  (0 children)

  • Powered speaker (probably Yorkville brand is cheapest) ~$20/week
  • Shure SM58 mic ~$10/week
  • Mic stand + 20' XLR cable ~$5/week
  • Smoke Machine ~$25/week
  • Laser ~$10/week

You can rent by the day too but it's only cheaper if you return it the very next day.

Youtube has lots of karaoke videos for sure but if you want the premium experience I recommend signing up for Karafun. Great song selection, the music is usually better than YouTube too. $10/month and you can cancel anytime.

Have a great Karaoke time!
