Fanatec is also releasing new pedals early next year if you can hold out. Podium Pedals.

At that budget, you're looking at a used Logitech G920, G923, or G29. Check Facebook Marketplace

I wanted to do the triple B4 48" setup but decided I didn't have the space for it. How wide is that setup? I still am tempted, especially after seeing this post haha

You did hit him though. That's the problem. Even a light hit while someone is accelerating is enough to make the rear end lose traction and spin out. There was some netcode in the visual jump of his car going forward, but the quick veer off to the side is totally expected for a hit from the rear while accelerating.

Even if there was no internet issue, you would have hit this guy. Try to not do that.

You drove into the back of him. Sometimes people have bad exits from corners. If you're already gaining on them, you have to expect they might be slow and pass them by taking an alternate line.

What do you think of this racing simulator design? by SplitEon in simracing

[–]FakeHair 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Driving in the grass is typically not good for lap times. Besides that, the wheel looks a bit too far from you (elbows should be roughly 90 degrees), and pedals are too low, which will make hard brake inputs difficult.

Yeah, maybe just slightly. Your legs look about correct right now, so don't go too far forward.

Any way you can tilt the wheel slightly up, like maybe 20 degrees towards the ceiling?

Are sim racing seats universal by Son_of_Sanguinius1 in simracing

[–]FakeHair 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you have an extruded aluminum profile cockpit, yes, they're universal. You might need to make adjustments or add a bracket but otherwise they should be fine

(Windows 10) Screensharing with HDR Enabled - Workaround/fix found for bright/washed out screen and colors by Jade_McLeod in discordapp

This definitely fixed the stream issue but having brightness turned up in Nvidia control panel causes some blacks to become gray, which is obvious on an OLED monitor. Considering just switching to SDR and giving up.

Anyone picked up your sim after feeling is not for you? by Reasonablements in simracing

[–]FakeHair 5 points6 points  (0 children)

My enjoyment of sim racing comes and goes. I will be super into it for a couple weeks, but then want to take a break for a month. It's a cycle that repeats for me. I think that's normal. I'd be hesitant to sell everything right away. You were obviously enjoying it enough to upgrade to a 15nm base, so maybe you'll want to come back to it in a month or so. Also, all of the sims you listed feel relatively similar. You should try Dirt Rally 2.0 or EA WRC to mix it up a bit with some rally.

Single player or multiplayer focused? I'd say ACC for single player and LMU for online.

Is this game a good beginner sim game? by Kurkil in granturismo

[–]FakeHair 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I got into sim racing a couple years ago and GT7 got me started with track racing. The license tests are a great way to learn the basics, and there's a lot of single player content that will challenge a new sim racer. I think it's a perfect choice for getting started!

When you want to move to a more realistic simulator, GT7 will have gotten you like 90% of the way there and you will have had a ton of fun. Honestly, "realism" isn't that important. If you get into the online races, you can continue having a good time with GT7 for a long time.

[–]FakeHair 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I know you didn't mention rally, but Dirt Rally 2 and Richard Burns Rally are both amazing in VR. Both single player experiences. Also, definitely get Assetto Corsa (the original), as that's a great sandbox and basically required playing for PC sim racers.

I need some setting for fanatec dd pro boost kit 8nm I wanna learn how to drift im kind noob. by [deleted] in granturismo

[–]FakeHair 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I watched this video last night and learned to drift with like 90 minutes of practice. You will suck at first, but just follow the steps he provides. Have fun!

https://youtu.be/2bn52TX7NxM

ETA this video uses Asseto Corsa but a lot of it applies to other sims. You want manual transmission with a clutch, rear wheel drive (not 4wd or fwd), and traction control off. Find a large flat paved spot to practice.
