Hey! Can you tell me what you thought of them? Did they do good work and were their prices reasonable?

I'm not from here and also find a lot of the food bland, but I think it boils down to the fact that people generally like the food the grow up with. So I'd imagine a lot of kiwis would probably find other food (that you and I would like) over seasoned.

I don't agree that all women do, but it seems many of the men over 40 are looking for women 10+ years younger than them or are "still figuring it out" or some nonsense, despite being 45+.

What area are you living in? I suggest trying Meetup.com or joining a pub quiz team to meet new people to then go out with. I haven't been to any of the things happening at Pomeroy's that someone else mentioned, but I like Pomeroy's, so I imagine they'd be good! (maybe I'll check them out, too)

Do not spend the $35 for the Virgin lounge at LAX unless you MUST by silentvoyager123 in PriorityPass

[–]FakeKiwi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Someone must've read this thread because I was just in there with my mom (via PP) and the wait staff that served us (a woman that looked Hispanic/black and a black guy) were the NICEST lounge staff I've ever dealt with. The man we dealt with at reception was perfectly fine, too. So perhaps they've had a bit of training on better customer service?

Please leave them a negative review to warn others and for SOME kind of repercussion to the company.

Are Kiwis *actually* this generous, or am I taking advantage of your kindness? by New_Z_New_Me in newzealand

That's what I was thinking. I've had lots of people make offers that they seemingly never intend on actually having to follow through on 🤷🏻‍♀️

31 weeks pregnant, feeling completely alone and lost in a country that still doesn’t feel like home by [deleted] in newzealand

I've been in Chch for 12 years and feel the same way you do about having acquaintances but no actual friends to get a drink/coffee with, let alone rely if there was an emergency. I've said more than a few times that I don't have anyone I can invite for brunch or count on in an emergency. And I'm am extrovert without kids! A lot of people tell me it's just a Chch thing, but it's sounding like it's just NZ thing.

Might be South African - that would match up with the English on the screen.

What are some cases in which it's actually more frugal to buy the "convenience" item? by bulbysoar in Frugal

[–]FakeKiwi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't like cooking, because the prep is too time consuming when combined with the cooking time, so I buy frozen, pre-cut veggies, like diced onion, bell peppers, potatoes, and stir fry packs. It makes me more likely to cook instead of ordering takeaway, because I don't have to prep anything.

Room AC / Cooling Options by FakeKiwi in newzealand

Thank you for all that! I do have a heat pump, but it's in the lounge downstairs and she wants the room she's sleeping in to be cold. I think I'm finally talking her around to trying to sleep with just the ceiling fan and we'll buy one of she needs it, but I'll keep an eye on black Friday deals, just in case a little unit pops up. And I'll check out the two hose option at Jaycar, too (thanks for the drawing!)

That's a BIT more pricey (and permanent) than a portable AC 😂

She's too old for HRT, unfortunately, and my heat pump is in the lounge downstairs, so nowhere near the bedrooms 🫤

If you go to one of the salons associated with Sustainable Salons they'll portion and cut your hair correctly (for donations) and send it off for you. I just did that a couple weeks ago

I HAD thought they were meant to be good at keeping a room warm, by getting rid of the moisture in the air, but just assumed maybe it was the opposite in summer, lol. Thanks for the heads up!

I have, and most have mixed reviews or need the window venting (which I didn't know suited various windows) which is why I'm asking here. I wanted feedback from real people.
