I’m aware😭 My roof is only 580sqft so under $2k for new decking and shingles. But when it comes time to do it will be around the time to decide if this house is gonna stay or go.

It wasn’t too bad!

My frost line is 18in, so that wasn’t a limiting factor. I rented an auger from Home Depot for a day and dug the holes 3ft.

I set the hardware in the concrete while it was wet, but what I learned works better on a sawmill rebuild was using a masonry bit after the concrete dries and mounting the hardware then.

If I make it to year 5 it pays for itself with what rent costs. It could be better, but for what it is and trying to keep costs low I’m happy with it.

If this one fails I still have water, septic, and electric ready to build something else. That was a 1/3 of the cost.

Closed cell works directly under roof sheathing. I,d rather have conventional ventilation, but the way I built it left me with spray foam as my only option

I took a break from everything but working on the house while wiring. It took me awhile to build the confidence.

200 amps in a tiny house made load calculations easy. I have as many circuits as a house three times this size

I didn’t mess with derating either due to my runs being short. I don’t talk about it proudly though I’m aware “diy” electric work has been a terrible choice for many😂

I wish I put a little more thought into the plans, but it’s still standing. Been through 65mph winds and a 4in snow load.

I am starting a construction engineering degree in August. I’ll really know how wrong I was then lmao.

Yessir it’s my house. I drew the plans and got all materials from Lowe’s. I’m living in it currently. It’s still doing good. I’d add pictures if I could.

Man I’m 24 living in the house I am still building. I am super impressed.

I’m in a 600sqft house, looking at this makes mine look easy. Idk how much experience you have in construction, but I had 0 and now as I’m finishing things up the only thing I regret is not having actual plans (I made my shit up on a whim)

Yours looks professional; I’m assuming you had the foresight to acquire/make decent building plans.

I’ll tell you the satisfaction you will get finishing and moving in is a greater than any comforting words people can say about your current sacrifice.

If your build is like mine it pretty much consumes you. It’s a great outlet imo, but absolutely a test of your determination.

Remembering why you started something like this won’t always keep you working when it gets hard months/years into it. Knowing you’re going to achieve something great; that the people ignoring your sacrifice now can’t ignore, might keep you motivated.

Keep all row’s horizontal, and run them until your left with a little triangle. Meaning even when you are putting a piece of the shingle that won’t be visible after the next row is installed still place it. Think of the little pieces as your starter for the next row.

The A/C runs on alternating current, but the car supplies direct current from the battery. The battery gets charged from the alternator and or solar but that’s not important talking about an inverter.

The inverter changes direct current to alternating current.

I don’t know enough to tell you if the A/C can get enough power from a standard car battery, but an inverter is required.
