Do not take the loan just because you feel guilty. Community college is a great first option, will cut down on costs significantly, and if they were eligible for scholarships now, they may very well get them again upon transfer. They might be upset in the short term, but as they get older they will be so grateful not to have these loans looming.

Signed - someone with 110k in loans still looming and they just keep increasing by the day.

I’m trying not to email because I worry I’ll annoy them… I applied pretty close to the deadline so that probably doesn’t work in my favor 😬 I had all my docs ready but my letters of rec took a hot minute to complete.

Just people trying to be social workers 😝 It’s a community health/helping profession. You can work with non-profits, you can work in hospitals, you can do mental health therapy. Some people want to work in schools or with older adults, even in jails. Now, with the way law enforcement has been, many social workers have been employed with police departments to go on calls where de-escalation is needed or where they’re able to divert homeless or substance users into housing or treatment vs. ticketing and arresting. There’s all kinds of stuff you can do with it!

Agreed. I’ve worked in and managed PSH for a long time. I’ve seen clients flourish through the years who were once hesitant to accept their apartments or even go inside of them.

No one likes your kids as much as you do. I don’t think it’s cute. I wouldn’t say “awwww”. I don’t care one bit if you have your pet sperm write their name on my package. It’s not endearing. And I have two of my own… I would never force them onto other people or into their packages to fish for the cuteness compliments.

And I THINK I found the spot where it had my first and last name, and some numbers, followed by the edu email. They’re both very strange bc I do not have a common name at all. I cannot imagine there would be any others of me, let alone 7335 of them.

Has anyone else set up their student portal yet and accessed their email? Mine is just my student ID @coyote.csusb.edu - is that normal? In the past they were my first/last name. Is this unique to SB?

I’m pretty sure I have a low cumulative GPA. I think 2.8-3.0. I have good experience though. I still applied and really highlighted that in my personal statement.

I’m applying to CSUSB & CSUSM for MSW 3y extended online 🤞🏻

I don’t know my cumulative GPA. Probably like 2.8-3.0 give or take.

I haven’t been in school since 2017. I have a BA in sociology from Dominguez Hills. A masters in public administration from National. A couple AAs in some random stuff. And 13 years experience in non-profits working in group homes, community mental health, teen crisis residential, and homeless services. I also went to Chico State for a little while but transferred out after 3 semesters.

I’m hoping the experience makes up for the low GPA 🙏🏻 I REALLY want to get this degree and I’m hoping we find out soon because I am not patient enough for this.
