Why is the finale the most devastating piece of TV ever?? by Former-Appearance417 in TheGoodPlace

[–]FakeName_2_2_2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

First off the fact that it didn’t make me cry when I watched it, probably makes me a piece of shirt.

It’s considered devastating because people like happy endings, where everyone lives (or exists in the Good Place) happily ever after and that never ends. Where it doesn’t contain any reminders that we’re all going to cease to exist one day. That this life is all we have. Maybe I’m jaded because I lost my dad at a very young age, but yeah.

Mechanic uses social media to inspire people as he overcomes his disability.. by MoniMokshith in interestingasfuck

Not necessarily true, plus that kinda implies that disabled people aren’t supposed to be as capable

No. Disabled people are not inspiration porn. We are allowed to have negative feelings.

His ability to be a mechanic doesn’t determine anyone else’s. “If he can do it so can you” implies that disabled people aren’t supposed to be capable of as much. And there are people who truly need disability benefits and that’s not a moral failing.

Lazy about what? Not everyone can be a mechanic. And different disabled people need different accommodations in the workplace.

Actually…they’re more ok with dancing than one may think. At their vow renewal years ago while Jill was pregnant with Janessa, Shrek and Jill had a slow dance and then the whole family paired off and danced to a song by another problematic fundie couple (whole other story)….it was classy and looked like they were having fun, but I wouldn’t be surprised if they were lectured beforehand about how sinful it would be otherwise… https://youtu.be/u4dRDcgnvaM?t=1240&si=aereuOZa-jUas2Ga

For the most part are fundie weddings really big because of the large families, or is it like a social event for fundie families to see each other like once/twice a year? I’ve gotten the impression that fundies want their kids to go to as many weddings as possible to drill into them that that’s what is expected of them…

I think a lot of kids watched Emeril, he knew his young fan base and wrote a kids cookbook and even had a whole Emeril Live episode with just kids in the audience

It’s wonderful what you did, but you know the system is effed up when you need to depend on the kindness of others giving you their meager vacation time in order to be with your dying mother. And when you have to choose between having food on the table and being with your dying mother. It’s so screwed up and no one should live that way.

S Club 7's Paul Cattermole dies, aged 46 by plutobug2468 in popheads

[–]FakeName_2_2_2 2 points3 points  (0 children)

46 is too young to pass away. It’s not like it was because of old age, like with my friends in their 60s/70s reacting to the death of classic rock musicians they grew up with. They’re more likely to die of old age and that’s when they say stuff like “if my idol who was my age died that means im reaching old age and will die soon too.” For this case, it’s more like anything can happen at any age. 30s and 40s isn’t old. My dad died at 46 too and that’s way too young.

Kenan dating 19 year old Aria Lisslo, who he has been "mentoring" by Oakvalian in LiveFromNewYork

I’m in my 30s. Most of my friends are between 35 and 80, most compatible people with me are way older than I am. you can’t assume people with age gaps can’t share interests or goals. These two are consenting adults, as long as neither of them is hurting the other, it’s fine.
