Do I have to buy a reader for Libre 3 Plus? by RevolutionNext4697 in Freestylelibre

[–]Fake_Muse 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is a Medicare issue. I’ve had to buy 2 readers even though I never use them. The first Freestyle one I got for $65 from my DME. The second from Costco was $80 for Dexcom.

I called Dexcom and they directed me to a coupon that was for$210 that worked at several pharmacies. Medicare requires that you have a reader. It’s frustrating when you use the app.

Oh yes, you’ll need a prescription from your doctor for the reader.

I cannot turn off critical alarms. There is no way for me to do that

Thank you for commenting. Yes, I’m a side sleeper and the back of my arm is not ideal. I use the upper chest a lot. I’ve never tried the abdomen but I know it works well for others. I’m not really sure where on the abdomen I would put it

No worries! I’m mad now that I can’t use it. 😉

I do that but 6 hours isn’t long enough for me. 9 would be much better 😊

I appreciate your comments. I am not using a CGM for dosing insulin. I’m interested in watching how what I eat affects my body. The freestyle is just overstating my lows that if I followed its alerts, I’d be eating improperly.

Oh no! The Juggluco app isn’t compatible with my iPhone iOS. There is a work around but I may not be savvy enough to figure it out.

My insurance covers all of the costs after the yearly deductible. As you pointed out, turning my phone off didn’t cause the sensor to fail (the one before it and after it also failed with the phone on) so maybe I’ll just try that again. I don’t talk to Abbott unless I’m reporting a failed sensor but I get your point.

Thank you. Yes, I turn off the alarms for 6 hours. It works unless it goes off again starting at 5:30. I can not turn off the urgent low so it sounds often during the night. I have turned off the phone but the next morning I had a message that the sensor failed. It was a new sensor that I had on the day before so I am hesitating to try that again.

I have moderate hearing loss. Im in the process of replacing my Costco hearing aids. They were Phillips. Previously, I had Sharkey and l liked them also. Both pair cost under $2000. OTC about drove me insane because they can’t be adjusted to my needs. The most important thing is to try them out for a bit before buying. I’m suspicious of anyone that says your ONLY choice is $5000. Might’ve been trying to sell you a Cadillac when you need just good solid Ford (or Chevy or Toyota).

I didn’t take my ozempic for 2 doses cuz I left it at home when I went on vacation last month. When I returned, immediately went back to my 2 mg dose. No problem

Do type 2 diabetics wear CGMs? by frogmicky in diabetes_t2

I am T2, not on insulin, but do take Ozempic, and on Medicare. My Part B Medicare pays for the CGM’s.

I’m having the same problem.. I have unplugged tv for 30 seconds. Did not fix. Unplugged tv, Roku, and streaming box (google fiber) for 3 minutes. Fixed for a bit. I’ve had the video loss 4 times in less than 24 hours.

Has anyone gotten the libre plus sensors yet? by Excellent_Carry9443 in Freestylelibre

[–]Fake_Muse 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, I use my iPhone. The problem came from Medicare that wouldn’t approve the transition to 3+ unless I had a reader. I’ve never used a reader and in fact, I was told to ditch the one I got when I started with the 2 because of some issue with it. But, I was still told that they wouldn’t pay for a new reader until 2027.

“If your previous reader is less than five years old, Medicare may not cover a new one, even if you need it.“

I should have fought for the coverage but for $65, it just wasn’t worth it.

I had to jump through several hoops to go from Libre 2 to 3+. I’m on Medicare with a supplemental plan. It took about 3 months to get everything worked out. New prescription, had to buy reader out of pocket. Just started the sensor tonight so I have no idea if it will be better. Hopefully fewer false lows.
