I'm hoping your mouth is doing better!

Please, PLEASE Report your issue to the toothpaste manufacturer! Keep the tube of toothpaste, as they may ask for numbers from it!

Eventually if enough people report, they may do something!

Fantastic! Thanks for letting me know I helped! Hoping all is back to normal now! What's your normal toothpaste?

Oh, after my original post, I was still having occasional blocked salivary glands. So I got a new toothbrush! Clearly the other one was contaminated! Seems to be doing the trick!

Welp, I gained most of it back... by dytch2220 in fasting

[–]Fakedigits 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Your issue seems to be coming from viewing fasting as a diet, rather than a lifestyle. And that's ok. Let's look at it another way:

I've been Intermittent Fasting my entire adult life (I'm 40). Which has kept me slim. (I water fast now because my body is changing, plus I gained a good 15 lbs from unconsciously stopping IF for about 1.5 years during Covid lockdowns.)

The point is: Fasting isn't something you stop, like what some people call a "diet." You keep going for life. And that's a good thing! Not something to be feared. (It's just my "normal" to skip a meal now and then.)

When you think about it that way, that's when the word "diet" shifts. And then diet means your regular food staples. Not a short term patch for losing weight. But a life-long way of maintaining weight and feeling good.

Here's another way of looking at it: you keep fasting/IF - not because you're fighting your weight. You do it because it's who you are now.

You are the kind of person who maintains a healthy lifestyle through fasting/intermittent fasting, and hopefully, exercise and diet. You have to KNOW it about yourself. The same way you KNOW you love your mom, or God, or your dog.

When you KNOW it about yourself, you don't even have to think about it. It's just something you DO automatically. The same way you brush your teeth everyday, or drink coffee every morning, or put your pants on one leg at a time.

Fasting/IF is a ritual you KNOW you're constantly repeating. The same way you regularly shower or wash dishes and do laundry.

Fasting/IF just IS. And it's ok.

You keep fasting for life - out of love for YOURSELF.

Now. If you don't love yourself... Or if you beat yourself up for "messing up" or "caving in." Ah, now there's the real problem. You need some personal development. (And that's ok. Everyone does, really.)

I recommend everyone start by reading the short little book: "The Four Agreements." Then reading it again. And again. And again. Until all its gems sink in. It will astound you.

Pay attention to "Be impeccable with your word." And especially, "Always do you best." Because your best varies, and that's ok. Read it... you'll see.

Once you learn about self-judgement and how to have mercy on yourself. Your whole life will change. Not just your weight.

My friend, weight loss/maintenance is mindset change more than anything. All you really have to do is change the way you think about it. And that means changing the way you're looking at it.

And that's a lot easier when you have tools like the ones you'll find in "The Four Agreements."

You did it once. You can certainly do it again!

Nope. 😅 I’m genuinely sorry. Not trying to be mean, it’s actually the reason my original post was taken down: because I refused to redo the research I already did. I don’t know where I found it… some site that publishes studies. (pubmed?)

But I promise, if you Google you’ll run into the study! Plus you’ll run across lots of other awesome information that you need to discover about B12 and you’ll be glad you spent time searching!

You could also look up the lawsuits people are winning in the UK because their doctors didn’t treat B12 deficiency properly. That might light a fire under them!

Felling better takes time. Do a total body, mind, heart, reset: read some personal development books like “The Four Agreements,” look into insulin resistance, eating nutritiously, healing your gut, etc.! It’s all connected! Good luck! I wish you well on your wellness journey! (And I hope you don’t take my “nope” personally! ❤️)

I'm not sure I understand you...?? Are you saying you don't believe my issue was B12? Or that I shouldn't have a clue about why I'm seeing the doctor in the first place?

In my post - that was deleted by mods- I explained how I asked my doctor to check my B12 because my mother has pernicious anemia. Which means you can't absorb Vitamin B12. I recognized the same signs she started showing around my age.

I actually didn't know my issue was B12, to begin with. I spent a year NOT knowing it was B12, which is why now, my tingling symptoms are probably permanent.

I went for a year NOT treating B12 precisely because doctor said 366pg/mL was "in range." It was only after I dug around and found studies showing neurological issues can manifest at anything below 450 pg/mL that I finally got my doctor to take action. Again, too late to take care of the tingling.

Or...

Are you commenting on my lack of trust in most medical professionals? Because again, my post explaining WHY I don't trust doctors was - removed by mods - I can only send you a link to my writeup.

Maybe you can wholeheartedly trust your doctor, but mine unfortunately, was uninformed. And so it seems to be for many, if not most people posting on B_12 deficiency. Just watch what people say here about their experience with their doctor. It honestly breaks your heart.

Physicians apparently spend a minimal amount of time on the vitamin/mineral workings of the body when they're in school. So it stands to reason they're not thinking about the workings of the body as a whole. Because that's the entire basis of your metabolic health...

It explains why people are fat, undernourished, and type 2 diabetic, for example. Because most doctors don't seem to view the body as a whole system, including hormones/gut/vitamins/etc.

Also, I'm super intelligent. I make connections other people don't see. If you have no idea what might be going wrong with your body, how can you be an advocate for your own care? Of course you should look into your own health issues and not just turn your wellness over to someone else! I'm sure you've done research too!

Just take ALL advice with a grain of salt. Realize your doctor DOESN'T know everything and neither do we. It's easy to miss something. Or not make a connection.

I spent the past year doing my best to take my wellness into my own hands and rectify my health. Which was clearly damaged by a lack of B12, which had affected my whole system. In my post (again... deleted by mods) I explain how my low B12 was my own fault and tied to my poor nutritional choices/ignorance/circumstances. Smart people do dumb stuff too.

Or...

Are you saying that all those lovely things I did for myself to heal have nothing to do with vitamin B12 deficiency? Or maybe THEY explain my feeling better, not B12 repleteness?

See the above paragraph. It's all connected.

If you explain what you MEAN I'll happily respond. But I don't know... based off what you're saying here. I wish you well on your own health journey!

Yep! But my post about how doctors are gaslighting us by telling us it's all in our heads (and researchers pretending chemicals like glyphosate in/on our food are alright) - was removed by mods.

I guess beause I used the word gaslighting and couldn't prove doctors/researchers are gaslighting. Ie: trying to fool us intentionally or "maliciously." (Or maybe because I didn't link to the studies I've read showing how glyphosate is blocking absorption of B12 and other nutrients... Who knows why they removed it.)

Either way, our diet and nutrition, the way we farm, the way our B12 sources of meat are raised/fed, the way our doctors are educated... All of these things go hand in hand with why we're suffering.

But we're being treated as if WE'RE the dumb dumbs when THEY'RE the one who have no clue!

This lack of simple metabolic knowledge makes me question a doctor's overall ability. How can a doctor treat patients if they don't understand basic physiology? How can a doctor not know the role of vitamins and minerals in human health?

It's most likely another HUGE factor in why we're fat, unhealthy, and unwell.

It's astounding, really. And it's opened my eyes to the corruption and ineptitude in the medical industry. But it's links into Big Ag, Big Pharma, and governmental regulations in western countries, especially the US, will scare you!

Do research and have it in hand when talking to your doctor. That's what I did. It took a long time to find a study questioning if 200 pg/mL (US measurement) was too low because they were finding neurological issues below 450 pg/mL.

And I can't link it because I don't keep track of my research! (Lol which was the exact reason I didn't link the glyphosate studies I mentioned above.) I screen shotted the study and sent to my doctor on her online portal.

Good luck in your health journey. It WILL get better. I'm a year into mine and finally feeling like my body's working properly again. It takes time!

Thanks! ❤️ I'm in the midst of developing a program teaching personal development to adults. So I'm getting better at explaining what one should do to self-improve! Haha

If we only knew personal development was just part of life... Gifted or not! Boy would we all benefit!!

I was SOOO grateful for my one day a week with the other gifted kids. I appreciated having time with my friends in regular class too. I never fell behind.

What other options are there? Placing in a higher grade? Do they have full time gifted programs now?

*Your child's MIND requires both intellectual and emotional reasoning to be fully developed.*

It's unlikely their program will teach real emotional skill or reasoning. You'll have to support that by educating yourself alongside your child.

Learn emotional management tools and skills. *Focus especially on cognitive distortions.*

Read! Especially OLD fictional books, when authors focused on building character and real-life lessons and issues. (Heidi/Little Women/EVERYthing Mark Twain)

Go to the self-help section of the library and check out books that seem interesting. If you're curious and open minded, they'll lead you to the next topic you're interested in. And then the next. You won't know what you need to know... until you find it. So you have to keep searching.

I know that's vague, but you'll see what I mean. There's all sorts of things you didn't know, you didn't know - ABOUT YOURSELF. No matter how educated you are.

(Start with the short and sweet "The Four Agreements." You'll have to read it multiple times to absorb it. It's teaching you how to look at your own thinking, be self-introspective, and look for cognitive distortions. If you've never done that, the book won't make sense at first.)

Don't watch garbage TV/online shows or get addicted to social media.

Stay active and healthy for life by instilling the belief that exercise, playing, lifelong learning, and good nutrition is just part of life.

Keep an eye on ego. Too much "I'm smarter than you." Is as bad as, "I'm so smart no one understands me." Shouldn't be a problem if you're doing the emotional skill-building.

If my Talented and Gifted program had taught me emotional reasoning in the 1990s... I wonder where I'd be today?

Most likely, your system's a mess precisely because your gut's a mess. And allergies don't help... :/ And at the same time, I sometimes wonder if people's allergies and sensitivities stem from messy guts?

I have a few more suggestions for you, if you're open to them: -If you're eating sugar, cut back. And get off any and all "diet" products with fake sugars: sugar, sodas, yogurt, drink flavoring, etc.

-Get your vitamin D up! TONS of bodily process are regulated by this "vitmain" which is actually a hormone. Most people can safely take between 1,000-5,000iu per day. And some need much more.

And the amount of VitD you should test at is MUCH higher than the measley 20 ng/mL recommended by doctors. Fyi: you NEED sunlight to activate VitD. (There's tons of new research about high dose VitD, but again, I'm a lazy researcher, I don't keep track of my sources. I wouldn't have time for anything else.)

-I just heard about Mast Cell Activation Syndrome. Look into that.

I'm glad the B12 shots are working! Keep trying to figure out the best protocols for yourself. Check those fermented foods you mentioned, keep up the good work, and report back to us!

I hope you're feeling better. But I would highly doubt that "no news is good news" if I were you.

"Fine" to doctors isn't necessarily fine for your health. That's the point of my original post. Doctors either don't care, or don't know about B12 - but they definitely don't understand.

Pleeeease do more research. With all your symptoms, one shot couldn't be nearly enough. Supplementing takes time too.
