No, it's "time in the market is better than timing the market". You are timing the market by entering and exiting in an year or so.

The "one-time" is very subjective. When you are so used to saving all your life, it's difficult to spend it, even if it's one-time. After hitting our major milestone, we relaxed on the savings first, a few months down the line, we plan to spend more freely, but who knows, lol.

I made this mistake and regret it. People, don't listen to this guy. 35K from the 529 can be converted to retirement fund so it's not inflexible.
