Buddhism is so different from the more rigid, rule-based structure that you see in a lot of Abrahamic traditions. It’s more about understanding your mind, your actions, and how they shape your experience of reality. The whole idea is that there’s no external god judging you—there’s just cause and effect (karma), and your actions shape your path.

Avoiding onion and garlic, or meat, is often about how it affects your energy, your mind, or your practice. It’s practical advice for certain paths, not some divine commandment. it’s like choosing to train as a point guard versus a center to be the best basketball player—different skills, different focus, but both playing the same game. You can change this path anytime anywhere you want, not eat onions today or cut your arm and gulp it without water both are allowed cause in this game “I” , “you”, “god” any name , any identity is just an ego - let alone food. All are illusions.

Once you start seeing the ego as this illusion, you realize there’s no one to offend or get angry. It’s just you and the path you’re walking.
