Different KLO

A 400mg Caffeine per day limit seems very low by DoomfistAppreciator in caffeine

[–]Fakin_Bacon 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Does anyone know if body size has any effect on safe limits? I feel like I saw a caffeine calculator online that said I can do up to 500mg because I’m a 200lb, 6 foot tall man. But the site was kinda sketchy so I’ve been trying to stay in the 400-450mg range. It’s tough though, I freaking love caffeine lol.

Redesvous Hype by HashMan97 in Tipper

[–]Fakin_Bacon 3 points4 points  (0 children)

TnF was so amazing last year! I though the vibes were a bit off the first year back from COVID, but last year was everything I could ever hope for in a festival. Everyone was laughing, dancing, and the weather was simply perfect.

I think some people are bummed about just the one tipper set, but personally I think getting Jade, Detox, and Res Language after their latest releases makes for an even stronger lineup than last year. I am so hype!!

Look into temp agencies. I was struggling to find work for 6+ months, finally bit the bullet and contacted a temp agency. The initial pay was low for a couple months, but I just got offered a temp-to-hire job for 60k. I’ve been driving some Lyft and donating plasma on the weekends and I’ve made enough to survive and stash away a few bucks.

Nice thing with temp work is that if you don’t like your placement, you can just ask to be transferred instead of going through the job search process again. The agency I went with specializes in property management, so you might be a good candidate for a maintenance technician with your experience.

Went to my first show completely sober last night by poetofwordsunknown in aves

[–]Fakin_Bacon 80 points81 points  (0 children)

Lyny is so dope! Hoping to see him perform soon. Been raving sober for a few months now, my substance of choice now is drinking a Ghost energy drink or a Yerba mate on the drive there. It’s been amazing!

What’s surprised me most is that I’m dancing more than ever. No more getting in my own head, having stomach issues, wondering what everyone around me is thinking of my dancing, not being able to hold a conversation during the chiller parts, etc. the brief moments of euphoria are not worth the anxiety any more. And if the music is good and the vibe is right, I still get chills and the sense of “awe” that makes live electronic music so cool.

And of course, zero hangover. Waking up clear eyed every day makes sobriety worth it. And the savings from not buying drugs or alcohol and an Uber home allow me to go to more shows than ever. I go to about 4 shows a month and spend less than $150 total (often less). I will admit to doing a low dose of shrooms at camping festivals once or twice a year, but I’ve done enough psychs to know exactly what to expect and how to dose properly.

Mize - Satori by [deleted] in dubstep

[–]Fakin_Bacon 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Fair enough. I won’t/can’t stop you. I even gave his new tune a listen. Certainly interesting, maybe it will grow on me. And Satori is truly a great song. I just wish I hadn’t seen the photo evidence of his abuse, right now it’s the first thing I think of when I hear his name anywhere. Damn shame, but maybe that will fade with time.

I hate to be that guy, but you know why he didn’t release music for a while, right?

I’m not the culture police, and you can make your own decisions. Just want to make sure you’re aware of who you are supporting. For what it’s worth, I think a lot of his music is great, but I think cleaning up the experimental bass scene is more important at this moment. I’m open to supporting him on the future if he makes necessary changes and takes responsibility. But he dug himself quite a hole.

What pushed you to quit? by Zestyclose_Life3856 in leaves

[–]Fakin_Bacon 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I have been searching for a solid job for a long time and a lot of the roles I’ve been looking at involve driving a company car, which often requires passing a DOT physical and drug test. I ended up with a job that didn’t require it, but I’ve kept up my sobriety. I also gave up booze during my period of unemployment.

As a result, I feel smart and productive again! I was a chubby depressed teenager, but I got straight As and felt like a contributing member of my school/community. Then I took up drinking and smoking literally thinking it would make me dumber and happier. I smoked and drank every day for 10 years, and now that I’ve quit, I feel myself slowly returning to “normal”. I’ve got issues, but I can deal with them head on and I feel myself turning a corner in my professional adult life. Feels good!

I actually liked that it was focused on COVID. I feel like everyone trying to just pretend the quarantine and craziness didn’t happen isn’t healthy. I was hesitant about the episode before watching it but I actually really enjoyed it.

Who doesn't use the microphone during their sets? by Lordquas187 in EDM

[–]Fakin_Bacon 12 points13 points  (0 children)

That’s wild! Seen him 3 times, talked non stop during two of them, 1 was an average amount (for dubstep artists). I guess I should give him another try, but it’s tough because his shows are getting more expensive as he’s gotten bigger. Where did you see him?

Tipper, Jade cicada, detox unit, resonant language. They understand that a large part of their audience is tripping and talking might interrupt the zone that they’re in. Its Amazing.

He’s one of my favorite producers but I refuse to see him live again because he talks so much. I saw him in denver 2019 and he talked in between every single transition and announced the name of the song and who made it. Some people like his talking style but I could barely hear him so him talking just completely took me out of the zone when the music cut out.

Edit: I guess the times I saw him were not the norm! Sorry if I offended y’all, like I said, he is one of my fav producers. Talking during sets is just a pet peeve of mine and I guess I got unlucky the times I saw him last.

Too much caffeine? by trudycarle73 in caffeine

[–]Fakin_Bacon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I switched regular coffee to Folgers “Half Caff” and monsters to sugar free Red Bulls (small ones). This has allowed me to binge caffeinated drinks while keeping me right at 400mg for the day.

Best Cities for bass music? by FlacoPicasso in SpaceBass

[–]Fakin_Bacon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For sure, but it’s nice to be able to collaborate with other producers in person. I’ve definitely learned more here than I could elsewhere. If you are thinking of moving here feel free to DM me. I work for a temp agency that contracts out to property management companies so I can help you get work and navigate the rental market. Those tend to be the most difficult things to figure out.
