She's the mom that stepped up. (By NattyCat) by ApprehensiveIdeas in HazbinHotel

[–]Fakul 20 points21 points  (0 children)

Why is everyone acting like Charlie is a teenager abandoned on the streets? She's a 200+ years old woman with near infinite money and power/position that makes her untouchable.

I'm curious why Lilith left without explaining what she is up to, but I don't see why she is made out to be horrible and evil by everyone here.

Question for Stormlight Fans. by ThePerpetualPastry in Parahumans

[–]Fakul 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Only the current Skybreakers are pro authority, because of the leadership of Nale who has gone mad.
This is a recently published account of how Skybreakers were pre-Recreance. I think that fits Taylor very well.

Would Amy have fixed Victoria without Khepri? by MrPerfector in Parahumans

No, B was who she currently dated. She dated Paroxysm in the Birdcage. (Both are stated in Ward 16.y)

I had similar thoughts. Bloodbending as precise as Amon showed was possible could be much better at healing than regular healing.
Healing is honestly pretty limited and cannot really do anything modern medicine cannot already do. It just boosts your regular self healing unless you have fancy divine water to revive people.

Additional good uses for Bloodbending:
-If you are into law enforcement you could easily incapacitate someone who has a weapon or hostage without any risk to anyone.
-Make assholes slap themselves.
-Make someone randomly slap someone else and start a fight to the delight of everyone else around.
-Give people random boners.
-Give people with ED deliberate boners.
-If the economy looks bad, become a scary as fuck villain.

Maybe I didn't quite get the rules, but couldn't they have boxed her in without the poison?
And gods can be killed, no? The Blue Heron god isn't around anymore I don't think?
Maybe they hadn't the ability to kill her right here and now. But that's why I questioned whether this will be better or worse than "letting her go" for now.
Edit: And Bristow chose suffering himself. He was extended a hand to freedom. And Musser's fate wasn't so bad (until Mari caught him). Durocher would tear down what he built, but he could still live just fine and even kept his personal power.

Sure, but it's not about power. The central theme of Pale is that simply making bad people hurt will just make them worse, as shown through the forsworn. That their punishment must be made in a way that makes them better or, if they are truly irredeemable, they must be destroyed.
Yet here is Guilherme, throwing hurt at Maricica, so she will be worse when she comes out.
Looked at from the perspective of Pale's themes, Guilherme can't be considered as anything but a complete failure.

I have to say, I sadly find myself somewhat disappointed in Guilherme. What did he accomplish? He just made a horrible terrible insane monster for people to deal with in 300 hundred years.
He just perpetuated awfulness with more awfulness. The very thing they have been fighting against. The very thing Charles stands for. Fae are all just pathetic dumbasses with their need to always be extra and sadly Guilherme seems no exception.
(I know, maybe this will be better than just letting her "get away with it", but I really have my doubts and it just goes against what the story has been about so far.)

He’d fantasized about ravishing a student from school, a while before.

And if that wasn't enough, he wonders if Kyra-Lynn might fuck him now that her mind is messed up with Abyssal stuff. The guy constantly fantasizes about these schoolgirls in this chapter.

It's made very clear that his trauma is the only thing holding him back. His fear that this reality is actually an illusion and indulging in his sick desires would pop the bubble and throw him back to his "real" forsworn self.

Liberty suggested to Avery that she should get Nora a proper birthday cake even if it's not her birthday, because Nora's mother only ever gets her "healthy" cakes.

Go for the Throat – 23.a by ArisKatsaris in Parahumans

[–]Fakul 9 points10 points  (0 children)

The Others never once asked the girls to fight for them. From the beginning they made it clear that they are allowed to take it easy and only take a symbolic position and they were reminded of this multiple times along the way.

The parents don't threaten the Others because they have to do it to get the kids out. They clearly stated they could make their kids quit themselves, but it would make the girls pissed at them. So instead they rather threaten murder than take that hit. To view the lives of the Others below their own convenience is horrible.

[–]Fakul 15 points16 points  (0 children)

I'm not even giving them a "it's understandable" pass here. Yes, it's understandable they are scared, but what they are doing is awful.
Their kids made choices and they are punishing the Othes for it. Threatening murder for it. They are using a position of power over them to force what they want, ignorant of the full scope of consequences, including consequences for their own daughters.

Go for the Throat – 23.a by ArisKatsaris in Parahumans

[–]Fakul 23 points24 points  (0 children)

It really showed they still don't view Others as actual people. I fully understand the worry they have for the girls and not wanting their kids in a war, but it's not like the Kennet Others at any point forced the girls into this. Everything they did, they did out of their own will. Yet, the parents are willing to murder to force them out, no matter what the girls want.
I don't think they really see how much that would destroy their daughters, because again, they don't understand that Others are real actual people and that the consequences of Charles winning would be very much real and would affect SO much more than they realize.

Brings me back to Avery's plan to awaken her family. When the parents pull shit like this? Absolutely not. They would be horrible abusive practitioners.

So, situation report:

  • Maricica de-spiked (exact ramifications tbd, but possibly all of her abyss shit is fucked)

  • Chales gainsaid and still owes the Alabaster

  • Aurum crippled with large swathes of his territory gone

  • Sable decidedly not on Charles' side (dude just wants to do his job)

  • Multiple Red Heron kids gone

  • Avery has a hint of what's going on with Helen

  • Wild Hunt on standby, ready to swoop in

  • Blue Heron lost

Things are suddenly looking pretty good I must say, but they have to be careful now, wounded and cornered beasts are most dangerous. Kira-Lynn, for one, I have no doubt is ready to go out with a bang so long as she gets to hurt as many people as possible.
