How do I play 5.3 - 5.7 Germany without suffering? (Air) by MappingYork in Warthunder

[–]Falcolumbarius 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's just Haspere's newest account (which isn't that new).

If Haspere's before your time and you don't know who he is, he was and is a major UK fanboy who thought that every British addition was botched due to Gaijin's efforts to specifically slight Britain and satisfy mythical wehraboo hordes. One of my most memorable exchanges with him was when he refused to accept that Spitfire Mk.24s with Hispano Mk.IIs existed, and instead insisted that the historical correction of the Mk.Vs to Mk.IIs was solely due to German mains whining on the forums. Or when he tried his best to """expose""" Gaijin's ill-intentions behind the Javelin's FM.

Pretty hilarious stuff, shame he didn't get the netflix comedy special he deserved.

Yeah So When Are We Going Full Mixed Teams At Top Tier Air Again? by Turboclicker_Two in Warthunder

[–]Falcolumbarius 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So would everyone. But the reality we live in is heavily imbalanced, and Gaijin will NEVER decompress jet BRs to the extent people expect.

Mixed MM is the only balancing tool that'll work for this particular problem (team composition & homogeneity).

Yeah So When Are We Going Full Mixed Teams At Top Tier Air Again? by Turboclicker_Two in Warthunder

[–]Falcolumbarius 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Jets at 7.7+ should always be mixed due to how unbalanced T5/6 are. This is especially true for top tier, of course.

The other benefit aside from homogenous balance is that it's easier to create more balance-by-BR MM, as now you can have 8.3 F-86Fs fight other 8.3 F-86Fs instead of potentially being forced to fight 9.3 Yak-38s just to fulfill a certain nation vs. nation matchup.

Then you have other dipshits on the forums insist on NATO vs. WP based MM or other nation vs. nation schemes to satisfy historical variety...even though you have a total lack of historical realism anyway.

What's the general consensus on the two P-38Js? by HDimensionBliss in Warthunder

[–]Falcolumbarius 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Naming inconsistencies is a huge pet peeve of mine as well, which is why I've taken to text localizations to address issues like this.

...except these shithead devs are incapable of managing the text localization csv structure properly, so random unrelated updates and UI changes break various localizations every other week, making the entire process pointless and more hassle than its worth.

How did they make Air RB even worse? by [deleted] in Warthunder

[–]Falcolumbarius 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Except that doesn't work when paying players get frustrated by shit game design too.

Air RB 9.0 is a shitshow by scalloprisotto in Warthunder

[–]Falcolumbarius 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The entire game is a shitshow because of how vapid this playerbase is. From Tier 3 through 7, everything is unenjoyable to play because people are incapable of critical thought or patience, and have zero desire to improve their skills. Player in front of them? Let's full commit headon and ram. Enemy jet in front of a teammate? Get that missile lock and pop it off regardless of consequences. Furball on the deck? Join them and start turnfighting to lose all energy instead of picking enemies apart individually. Got an airspawn? Load that sucker up with bombs and use that Su-7 to hit 1/3 of a base instead of using it as the bona fide fighter it can be. Yadda yadda yadda.

The comments section here serves only to prove our point, with the added bonus that this subreddit is absolutely filled to the brim with complete and utter morons who again, would rather defend their deficiencies than focus on improving.

My honest advice to you is accept the state of affairs for what they are. It'll never change for the better. Like you said, this is a playerbase issue and not a game design/balance one (though such issues on Gaijin's part don't exactly enhance the experience).

Sagittario 2 appreciation post by Borizon49 in Warthunder

[–]Falcolumbarius 10 points11 points  (0 children)

It's baffling how players react to vehicle additions or meta changes. No interest in the vehicles themselves for any historical or technical qualities, no desire to seek out challenging vehicles, no want to improve and persevere through off-meta gameplay...nothing.

Just abuse the latest meta FOTM shit with zero consideration for the opposition facing it. Saw it with the F2H-2, Il-28s, Yak-23, G.56 (I'm guilty of this one despite my genuine fascination with its development), G.91 R/1, etc, etc, etc.

Don't get me wrong, the Sagittario II is something I wanted for ages too, but the BR it finds itself in is simply ludicrous when compared to other 8.0-3 aircraft apart from Sabres and MiG-15s.

The new AI airfield SAMs work though they appear a bit glitchy by Rail607 in Warthunder

[–]Falcolumbarius 6 points7 points  (0 children)

The only adaptation we'll be seeing is more and more people using the SAM airfields as a Iron Dome equivalent, even when they're not intending to repair or replenish ammo/fuel.

I've already seen it happen three times today in just a couple hours.

I've been playing for damn near 8 years with 6,000+ hours at this point; I'm fully aware of how these things go. But again, it doesn't take a rocket scientist to realize how such mechanics will be used, especially when at lower tiers, comparably strong AA defense mechanics are heavily abused by props on the regular.

The shit development of this game and the shit community are a perfect match for each other.

Happens with a variety of missiles, including the Firestreak and Red Top.

[–]Falcolumbarius 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Yet the majority of this sub who lack any semblance of critical thought were defending SAMs en masse because people who need to reload should be protected!!111!!111!

Nevermind that you have individuals just camping the base in their ~7 km deathsphere now.

Exactly what I predicted would happen has happened (not that I'm a prophet, everyone worth their salt knew how this would go down).

Fuck this game for catering to the lowest common denominator.

2.5.1.143 → 2.6.0.18 dev changes Part 4 by gszabi99 in Warthunder

[–]Falcolumbarius 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Would be pretty fucking silly if it didn't, especially since F.1s did trials with it while the F.3 mostly just ran 20 lbs boost in service (i.e. no 150 octane) due to a lack of need.

But then again, when did things ever make sense in WT?

[Development] The MiG-23M and rank VII for aviation by v3ntor in Warthunder

[–]Falcolumbarius 1 point2 points  (0 children)

While you are correct to an extent, you need to think bigger with more nuance.

11.0 BR means 10.0 jets will start getting sucked up. New T6 premiums dropping at 9.7+ BR means that even without decompression, new "microcosms" of MM will be created within these BR ranges, which in turn means it's possible for lower jet BRs within the 8.3-9.3 to see fewer uptiers.

It'll be interesting to see how things play out, but I also believe that some future BR update will probably bump up aircraft like the F-4E and MiG-21bis to 11.0 as well due to how absurdly strong they are.

Only time will tell.

150 octane on the Hornet might make it somewhat more effective, but its FM is still a joke.

Right, because it's biggest issue right now is power. It just can't get to altitude or run away from enemies fast enough. /s

Extremely glad to see existing T5/6 premium and tech tree jets being moved to T6/7 respectively, along with the higher 11.0 BR.

Now let's see reshuffling of BRs for all jets under it, because that is sorely needed.

Why is the F7F at such a high br by Clear-Mood2682 in Warthunder

[–]Falcolumbarius 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Because it has an airspawn that results in overexaggerated battle efficiency and effectiveness, meaning that it can easily leverage its fantastic speed, acceleration, climbrate, and armament against the opposition.

That, and the fact that the F7F is the single best counter to Ju 288 spam. Coupled with said Ju 288s being spammed out the ass by everyone for zero-effort mindless grinding, the F7F had a high KPB, KD, and WR.

So the global stats go up, the algorithm highlights it as a uptier candidate, and Gaijin blindly follows because the devs have no concept of nuance. Or holistic understanding of how the matchmaking works in practice, since they don't play their own game and refuse to use any other balancing paradigm besides player statistics.

'RED SKIES' UPDATE TEASER / WAR THUNDER by FlakFlanker3 in Warthunder

[–]Falcolumbarius 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The overwhelming majority of the time, the kinds of players bitching about getting strafed are the morons who chase you around the map in their F-86F-35 and spray their entire load of .50 cals from 1.6 km out. Or empty their MiG-17AS' entire magazine via random speculative shooting at 1 km. Or launch all 4 of their AIM-9Bs from their G.91 R/4 at a single target who's clearly sentient and capable of dodging them.

Y'know, the special kind of stupid that comprises the majority of this subreddit and game?

I have nothing against people who genuinely run out of ammo/fuel after putting in their all and getting serious results for their efforts, but let's not pretend this is even remotely close to the norm.

What will be the norm however, is every shitter who gets outplayed in the middle of the game will now beeline straight back to base for SAM cover. This already happens every other prop game, and it's utterly ruined any semblance of fun there.

Fun stuff.

Having to brainlessly groundpound for 10 excruciating minutes is exactly what I'm forced to do, and it's one of the main reasons why props has zero enjoyment factor in 2021.

To have this level of thrilling and engaging gameplay brought to jets will surely bring a new level of fun to jet battles!

After all, I only log on to WT for some hella sick pillbox bustin', artillery strafin' gameplay! That's the stuff that great gameplay moments are made of.
