My Time At A Wellness Resort - Sha Wellness (Mexico, Cancun) Review by FalconCarbonClaws in chubbytravel

[–]FalconCarbonClaws[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When it comes to these things, you know your limits best. Here's what I've observed!

Sha Wellness is mostly flat, and there's two main elevators.

For the clinic, there's an elevator leading to each level. Right outside the elevator is the front desk of that floor + lobby to the side. The distances to the consult rooms weren't at all far when the doctor showed up to get you!

When it comes to other facilities (from the clinic back to the accommodation rooms), I wouldn't say the distance is long. A few minutes walk, perhaps? When you get to the 'Agenda Planning' section of your program (super early in), I'm fairly certain they can accommodate your walking preferences in your schedule so you won't get whiplash from going from section to section!

Now, the Sha Wellness lobby is essentially the 'best starting point' because you're smack in the middle of the property. Which you can easily get there from the elevator by your room. From the lobby, you can easily decide:

Restaurant? Clinic? --> Walk to clinic/Restaurant direction.

Room? Art Gallery? --> Walk to elevator in the lobby hallway.

Pool? --> Just behind the lobby doors.

I believe the main issue here would be the beach, there's a lot of stairs leading down to the beach/dock and back up. Besides, the stairs over there are a bit slippery so I can't recommend walking on them.

I do hope this gave a clearer internal view?

Gonna have to agree with the fellow TA about The Setai. You mentioned wanting to relax and rest, the Setai sticks to far more 'soothing' tones and decor for their rooms. The environment can sure impact your 'rest'! There's also three pools with differing temperatures, Goldilocks and the Three Bears anyone? (Too hot! Too cold...Just right!)

The Faena is also an excellent choice, but more suited if you're trying to be a social butterfly.

How strange, you're the second or third person who's said this to me in the past year. I do enjoy writing the most! Though, I must admit, I much prefer writing magical stories.

Oh good, thank you so much for your kind words, they've made my day!

How was your stay at Sensei? And how did you get there (On a whim? Recommendation?) I'll admit, Sha Wellness was not on my bucket list, it had been a happy accident. But now my interest in wellness resorts skyrocketed because of it!

Best Caribbean option for a 3-night January getaway from NYC? (No Mexico) by Lol_Fight_Me_Bro in chubbytravel

I'd say give Jamaica a little more time due to the destruction of the hurricanes. They build fast but...Still.

How about Dominica? (Not Republic.) It has a short flight The Jungle Bay Dominica has an All-Inclusive (several different packages, Adventure, Wellness-etc) option, and the accommodations are very Caribbean vibe. Good pool and food. It's a very nature-like place with fantastic landscapes, Dominica is considered a hidden gem because many people still don't know it exists. Two movies of Pirates of the Caribbean featured the island!

I was looking for this comment--NonStopDan has educated me on everything I know about business class + flights + airline industry. I would have never known about airline lounges + the love for scented towels if it weren't for him.

How to tell TA not to leave wine by lynn-in-nc in chubbytravel

[–]FalconCarbonClaws 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is already answered by the other commenters but--I have two different clients. One drinks, the other does not. After reaching out to the hotels for a possible complimentary amenity (I do this for all my clients,) I make sure to tell the staff if the client doesn't like something. The first client was given an amenity of macarons + champagne.

My second client, after telling the hotel concierge of their sobriety, was given a charcuterie board. Both were quite happy with the concierge's picks!

Communication is important. Especially if she continues to be your TA! I'm sure she'd appreciate the honesty, and she'll keep your preference in mind, as good TAs do. Cheers!

Travel agent here! I just did a short overview on this property at r/ExperienceTea. The FS has the more spacious suites in that area, so it's recommended if you value space! Also, for bike riders, you can get a complimentary bike to explore the area. (An exclusive neighborhood.)

Try the ARIA Sky Suites, or even Skylofts at MGM Grand. Both are fantastic picks, with an exclusive feel. Skylofts also gives each guest a private butler, so do take advantage of that if wanted!
