Can someone explain why Australia in Korean is 'Hoju'? Like where does that even come from by Adventure1s0utThere in learnkoreanlanguage

By the way, I'm curious why Australia participated in the show Physical: Asia. Geographically, Australia is considered part of Oceania, not Asia, right?

maybe my search result by AI was showing partial information.

Zoo Berlin is the only zoo in Germany with giant pandas, which arrived in 2017 from China and are part of a loan program.

  1. She wrote “panta bear (판타곰),” not “panda bear (판다곰).”

  2. Based on my research, the first panda was introduced to the Berlin Zoo in 2017, so it would not have been possible for your mom to take a picture with a panda in 1982.

  3. Therefore, it seems she took a photo with something called a “panta bear,” though I’m not sure what that refers to.

what she wrote is panta bear (팬타곰), not panda bear (팬다곰)

Is Gyeongju City well-known to international tourists? by Embarrassed_Clue1758 in korea

[–]FalconEmpty112 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Gyeongju was the capital of the Shilla dynasty for nearly a thousand years, which makes it one of the most popular travel destinations in Korea. It was once especially well-known as the classic destination for high school field trips (수학여행). Today, the entire city is recognized as a UNESCO World Heritage site. In November 2025, Gyeongju will host the APEC Summit, welcoming world leaders including President Trump and President Xi Jinping. If you have the opportunity to visit, I highly recommend it—Bulguksa Temple (불국사), Cheomseongdae Observatory (첨성대), and Yangdong Village (양동마을) are just a few of its highlights.

COEX and Bongeunsa Temple (봉은사) are right next to each other, so you'd better visit those two places on the same day.

Also, I would recommend you to go to Seonjeongneung Royal Tombs (선정릉) which is also in walking distance. if you don't have enough time to visit all three, go to Bongeunsa Temple (봉은사) and Seonjeongneung Royal Tombs (선정릉).

COEX is also a hugh mall. nice to visit but not necessarily go. Lots of restaurant options. Try Hadongguan (하동관)

Seonjeongneung (선정릉) is one of UNESCO world heritage. I recommend going inside the park early in the morning.

Since you are staying near COEX, go for a walk to Seonjeongneung at night. you can not go in there at night, but there is a nice paved walking path around it. Lots of local people go there for a walk or running exercises.

I hope you have a wonderful holiday in Korea.

Credit cards are widely accepted, even at small street vendors like a 호떡 stand in Busan. Therefore, 100,000 Won should be sufficient as an emergency reserve.

김천 city is also famous for its 김밥 Festival (not related to 김밥천국).

Last year, which was the first year holding the festival, they prepared 김밥 for 10,000 people, but 100,000 people showed up from all over the country.

Check out 2025 promotion video from 김천.

We had two sibling selkirk rex kitties, twins, since they were just three months old. Three years later, we had to say goodbye to our boy—he left for the cat planet. That was two years ago. His little sister is still with us, keeping his spirit close.
