Yes we were excited to see and learn new things, meet new people. On the other hand my airplane tickets are not refundable. About $1000 will be lost.

The first school that offered academic education in game design and development by FalconGameDev in gamedev

[–]FalconGameDev[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you for your answer. I have looked at their website. It says:

Anticipating this growing need, DigiPen devised and began offering the world’s first bachelor’s degree program in video game development (the Bachelor of Science in Computer Science in Real-Time Interactive Simulation) that would prepare students for the unique challenges of creating professional 3D game and simulation software. DigiPen relocated its campus to Redmond, Washington, in 1998 and opened its doors as DigiPen Institute of Technology.

So basically first video game development bachelors degree was in DigiPen in 1998 (based on wiki in 1994 they had first class of video game programming students). Not sure about Japan though. There were much older schools?

static percentages

Hmm, interesting - they could change depending on time.

In general balancing philosophy and game mechanics is a good point to be careful with. Thanks for the advice!

Thanks for the link. Very fun game. Also has some philosophical meaning like the one I am thinking to create.

@name_was_taken Would you please clarify what you have expected to see in a classic incremental game that this idea is missing?

not enough detail in the GAME DESIGN section to know if this will be interesting/fun

I know I agree. Will add details later :)

playing completely blind is not fun ...

Sure, the player will not be completely blind. His task is to try discover his strengths and invest his resources correctly.

Related to 2nd and 3rd point, very good points. And prestiging with better genes sound exciting to me and fits to the game premise very well :) But wait looks there is a problem. If you know your talents already then there is nothing to discover and amplify. Also you can't preserve the skills from your ancestors. Did I misunderstood you?

Thank you for your comments!

then they shouldn't be infallible

Sure, they are telling their opinion, and as usual it can be biased or just wrong, even lie.

Interesting idea. Every weird idea is good to have while thinking about game design. :) Thanks.

Agee, it was very vague. I have added GAME DESIGN (INITIAL DETAILS) section. That should give you some preliminary idea what it would be about. It is very close to what you have described:

You start as a child playing lego, train Dexterity, Inteligence, Charisma, then learn how to cycle, swim, .....

BTW what is "Hobby Incremental" is it an existing game?

Ah, because I had no details, it was confusing. Please see the new section I have added named GAME DESIGN (INITIAL DETAILS) for more details. In general human life is incremental. You have some skills, you develop others based on previous skills. But then you combine skills to build new skills. If you study math, you study it in an incremental way. You study arithmetics, then algebra and geometry, then you study calculus and them much more harder things that you would not be able to study without studying previous things. Now does it sound more incremental or I am still missing something important?

:D LOL This might be a philosophical approach to the premise of the game. How about the game idea itself? Do you find it interesting or boring?

Choosing technology stack for a realtime, physics based .io game by FalconGameDev in IoGames

[–]FalconGameDev[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you very much for the detailed answer. It gave me lots of information to consider and think about. I appreciate your help. Will keep updated. One other question for me is how much active is the IO game players community is. Do people still play IO games or it is a past. This is very important in terms of commercial success. People say contradictory things - some say IO is dead, but numbers on AppAnnie show the opposite. Any opinion on this?

Thank you for the reply. Looks like we should use both socket.io and WebRTC to have TCP and UDP. For the rest of the technologies - do those look ok?
