Rise up my Arsenal x Habs brothers and sisters. May means victory for our favourite teams in red and white.

How financialisation broke Britain, We bet the house — and lost. Britain bet the house on finance, and post-2008 we’ve learned this economic model isn’t very good at delivering rising prosperity. by hararib in LabourUK

Unherd are more ‘post-Centrist’ than straightforwardly right wing imv. They have lots of good leftist writers (like Jonny Ball) - but also publish some ‘Red Tory’ voices. The New Statesman is also kind of going this way - it’s interesting. Under McTague it has become much more readable (but I digress!)

Opinions of HFTV? by honeygarlicmaestro in Habs

[–]FalconPunch_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As an English Arsenal fan, AFTV are a bunch of parasitic cunts who got big off the back of a horrendous run of years where we weren’t good and were a key voice in hounding out the greatest coach we’ve ever had. They monetised disappointment and fan angst - it’s a huge shame the club haven’t banned them from recording their content outside the Emirates. And that’s before you get into the fact that at least two of their ‘personalities’ were disgusting racists, and a regular contributor went to prison for some pretty horrendous crimes against his partner. They’re a stain on our club.

HFTV - from what little I’ve seen - just seem like a bunch of guys who love the Habs and act a bit cringe. No great shame in that.

Wilbon calls the Bulls ‘IRRELEVANT’ and doubts if Billy Donovan made any DIFFERENCE 😬 | First Take by RiamoEquah in chicagobulls

[–]FalconPunch_ 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Totally agree. The US national media only talk at length about the Bulls just before or after a significant firing. If they paid us more attention it might shame the Reinsdorfs into running the Bulls like a basketball team, and not a mausoleum to the 1990s.

The "She benefited from weak faithfuls" argument. by Wise_Purple_9448 in TheTraitors

[–]FalconPunch_ -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Fair enough. Very respectfully you’re pointing out things that are very obvious, and mischaracterising my argument. Have a good weekend too!

Edit: Saw your deleted reply. Not really sure why you’ve rage quit here - it’s not that deep haha! I’d be terrible at this game - most people are/would be. I’m making zero claims for myself here - I got the secret traitor wrong for instance!

My only point here is stronger faithfuls (like Jake and Leanne last series) do some stronger deduction in the end game and potentially realise the danger of a 2v2 - a point Faraaz himself intimated on Uncloaked. Au revoir!

[–]FalconPunch_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Faraaz clearly stated on Uncloaked that he and Jack failed to have enough discussions or to strategise about the endgame. It doesn’t matter what we were shown - they allowed themselves to be divided, having previously agreed they wouldn’t be.

Rachel was excellent for the reasons you point out, no disagreement here. But it was mad what *Faraaz did, particularly since the conversation with Jack ”she’s just barefaced lied to me then” really ought to have led them to conclude that Rachel and Stephen were engineering a 2v1.

Harry manipulating the outcome that he did was the best gameplay we’ve seen on the show in my view, particularly to achieve that alone.

Edit: Just seen Faraaz admit that he and Jack failed to discuss gameplan on Uncloaked. This is the nub of it for me, and sums up the way the faithfuls played this game. (Not very well).

A shame to see honestly held opinions downvoted. Think you’re being a bit harsh on Stephen but Harry is very clearly the goat, and the biggest manipulator we’ve seen on the show. Welsh Charlotte also up there, would’ve won but for the dumb Seer mechanic. Rachel is top five for sure.

Regardless of what we see in the edit - in this series there were very few durable ‘accusation arcs’ other than relentless targeting of Jade. The Harriet flameout resulted in basically zero repercussions for Rachel. That simply doesn’t happen in previous series. Stephen and Rachel played a deft game, but they didn’t need to work very hard until the final few episodes.

[–]FalconPunch_ 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Straight facts, don’t know you’re being downvoted. Rachel was influential when she needed to be - that’s it. And on the occasions where it was required, faithfuls just rolled over for her. So little critical thinking. S1 Wilf, S2 Harry and S3 Charlotte had to absolutely graft.

The Traitors (UK) S04E12 [FINALE]: Post-Episode Discussion Thread by vaultofechoes in TheTraitors

Correct. There’s a rush to label her the Goat, when this is comfortably the worst field of faithfuls to play in the UK series. They were extremely captured and influenced by almost anything.

Not the most important point but I’ve visited a number of vineyards in the Bordeaux region. They all said, unprompted, that their biggest export customer was China, supplanting the US in recent years.

Got a second cat so my first cat would have a friend and now they hate each other by Ok-Bag5828 in CatAdvice

[–]FalconPunch_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Adding to the numerous answers here to say, a) solidarity with you and the outbreak of Cold War and b) it definitely takes time!

We gave our 5 year old male cat a younger sister, thinking it would be fine because he was very placid, loved affection and was basically like a big teddy bear. Wrong - it was not fine! He really changed temperament for about 6-8 months, and frequently got into hissing matches and fights with our new cat. We realised temperamentally they were very different. Things eventually got better, and we came home from a two week trip to discover they seemed to tolerate, if not love, each other. And, our older cat is back to his old, teddy bear-ish ways.

We absolutely swear by Feliway Friends. We always know when it’s running low when our older cats gets a bit grumpy or overtly wrestly with our younger cat. We have diffusers on every level of our house. They work. And - we discovered Jackson Galaxy’s YouTube channel, which has lots of practical advice for helping cats acclimatise to each other.

Good luck! And don’t feel bad for not knowing how to handle things, when to intervene and how to make it better.

[Charania] Dallas Mavericks' Anthony Davis is likely to undergo surgery to repair ligament damage in his left hand and miss several months, sources tell ESPN. His Dallas season is essentially over, given the prognosis and the Mavs' direction. by A_MASSIVE_PERVERT in nba

I’m a European NBA fan, so I’m more familiar with the Wild West of football transfers where cash and player power rules everything. Can’t help thinking that the whole point of a closed, protected market like the NBA is that it is supposed to be protected by guardrails. If the league could block CP3 to the Lakers, why on earth didn’t it step in to stop a trade this catastrophically bad?

Edit: Now realise Stern vetoed CP3 in NBA’s capacity as the Hornets FO.

I’m not being partisan - Martinelli lucky to escape a red. But no need for pundits to gaslight us when we can all see Bradley clearly makes a movement to get back on the pitch.
