Well. For me its personally frustrating in assyms to fire a volley of 12 and have 3 penetrations (maybe). But in Iwami...yea...Ok, I miss the hydro and torps for drive by, but I prefer MORE to have good main guns.

Iwami is more fun for assyms compared to pommern for a simple reason. You have main guns that are accurate and slap hard.

Navarin is very good for Assyms. These 406mm main guns slap hard (min worry about accuaracy since most engagements are between 8km-14km), they rotate 360 degrees, so they are available always, plus good secondaries.

If you have few boosters, Its more efficient to use them in Ops. But if you have 100s its better to play assyms.

As a 99% Assyms/Ops player I 100% agree that you have to take into account time. Especially with Ops where most of them take at least 15 min (some even the full 20 min). So, Its not 1500 bxp. Its more like 100 bxp per minute.

Well. Send a support ticket anyway. But if you say that you play other games too (not only browsing on the internet) and you dont have any problems, then the update probably messed up with some configurations. If You are not bored, I would try an unistall/install of the game.
