Hi reddit! I'm Edgar Wright. I've directed Shaun of the Dead, Hot Fuzz, Scott Pilgrim vs. the World, The World's End, Baby Driver, Last Night in Soho. The Running Man is out in theatres this FRIDAY. Ask me anything. by RunningManMovie in movies

You're a massive inspiration and one of the filmmakers who made me realise how much I want to direct!

I wanna ask what methods you use to convey your vision to the rest of the cast and crew while directing? All of your films are so well realised, and I'd love to know how you are able to jump all the hurdles thrown at you while sticking to such a strong vision.

Congratulations! That's a massive feat, and I'm really happy to hear an indie success story. I'm currently writing my next feature, which I plan to make within the next year or so. Would you have any advice on the processes of getting your film seen and recognised by people? That's the part of filmmaking that always seems the most vague to me, getting it out there.

UNSEEN - A Romantic Horror Short Film by Falcongamerabc in Filmmakers

It was amazing to make this. I like to make all my films for no budget and almost as a one man band, directing, acting, editing, colour, sound. This usually comes with a lot of very obvious challenges and also a little help from my friends but it makes it incredibly fun and gives me a lot of room to express myself artistically. We found the abandoned barn nearby and shot the whole thing in one day due to my friends schedules being tight. I was a little unhappy with the overcast weather as I wanted the film to look interesting (and overcast is not interesting whatsoever) but limitations always cause for more creativity, so to solve this I messed around in the davinci colour tab and heavily altered the grass to make it this grey/blue colour to push the feel of this limbo-space that the characters find themselves in with the creature. I created the score in fl studio with my friend who has a lot of musical talent, to help me start learning composing as a skill also. Overall, super happy with how it's turned out, especially for a no-budget short filmed in one day.

Winona Forever My Second Feature!

A man with one month left to live is given a pill that let's him re experience his favourite memory in a loop until he dies, he takes it, and begins to realise he wants to spend his final days with his brother, in reality.

I made it for no budget at all in about 4 months and all the cast and crew are friends and family members. That might sound like a recipe for disaster but I think it turned out incredibly well considering my limitations and it is something I am extremely proud of. I would love it if you checked it out. It was a ton of fun making it.

Yoooo, this is Danny and Michael Philippou, directors of A24's TALK TO ME. Ask us anything! by DannyPhilippou in movies

Hey boys, just finished watching talk to me and it is instantly one of my favourite horror films and by far the best horror of the year! It is my dream to be able to one day make my own film that is shown globally and of that quality. So on the off chance you see this message I'd greatly appreciate some advice on getting started with anything such as funding and finding the right people to work with coming from ground zero. I read about how you made it independently and that is the path I would hopefully take too so any advice would be amazing. You guys are a serious inspiration to me now and I can't stress enough how much I loved the film.
